Office has become very quiet these days. My usual lunch partners have either left for new office or off for holidays. Thanks that I got an intern who can’t escape whenever I requested for lunch :p hahaha..
Anyway, this week has been more decent than last week. The team size is back to normal, and month end means less forum & calls. Yet, I don’t really understand why I was still leaving only at around 10pm :(
On Monday, I went to Alexandra Hospital to check on my red eyes. I kind of hoping that there is no issue with my eyes, but at the same time hoping that I didn't come here for nothing (meaning I want the check up to detect something wrong, contradictive!) In the end, the young medical officer told me that I have spent my $75 bucks for nothing.
He described the exact same things from what I found searching Google. He said that the eyes issues, no matter how red it is, as long as there is no 1) Pain or 2) blur of vision, you don’t have to look for doctor. He said that my bloody red eye is just as common as a bruise in leg. Anyway, he seems to pity me, and then gave me 2 days of Medical Leave... which I didn’t use in the end.
I did my weekly exercise on Tuesday, went for a meeting with our sponsors on Wednesday (where we received so much bad news & alert on the project, but that’s not within my power to act upon), and on Thursday I was told to went to Manila for kick-off workshop.
Friday, I confirmed my air ticket & accommodation for Manila, but I still didn’t know what I supposed to do there. After several failed attempts to get any news, I decided to go for a date at 8pm and worry about the workshop later. We went to Kim Gary @ Vivo, have a nice dinner, went home, and watched “The Ghost Writer”, which turn out to be very engaging. Pierce Brosnan was the only actor I knew there, but he turned to be playing a very small role there (and get killed before anything is solved some more).
Saturday, I took my time to sleep until almost 1pm, and then went to Chinatown for lunch and exchanging some Peso. I was undecided if I need to exchange at first, as I’m quite certain that I will pretty much travel only between office & hotel. In the end, I decided to change for SGD200 (Wait till I find some great shopping mall and regret to this amount) The rest of Saturday was filled with work until 9pm, dinner, and Toy Story 3.
Sunday, I didn’t do much except for ironing, last minutes packing, and now typing this blog before leaving for airport. I’m still feeling unprepared with all these, but let see what the next-week me will say.
Makati City, here I come!

Singapore?
I’m addicted to games these days! Suddenly found out good games for iPhone. For those of you who haven’t tried Mr. Space, please go download it. For those of you want to play some brain teaser, go for Chop Sushi! I downloaded it when it was free, but now it costs one buck I guess…
My week in office has been challenging. If Cinderella needs to be home by 12, I'm the total opposite who never home before 12. And despite all that, I heard so many complains + additional requests which I don’t can finish in another month. In conclusion, we need more people! And ironically, we actually get one more resource, a new intern from Oxford who just starting this week in my team. Too bad, no one really have time to give her anything to do yet. ^^;
The situation this week & other occasions have made me start thinking in other perspective, a view which I never ponder over before.
I questioned my decision to stay in Singapore.
Why am I working overtime every day? Why should I be worried about accommodation every year? What is the consideration which made me choose instant noodle over mum’s home cook food? And doing all the chores rather than having someone to do ironing for you?
I sort of lost my direction right now…. I have been away from home for long, and I have never missed home like this before. Of course, the consequence of going back is that you won’t find a job as good as what you find in SG. Yet, do I have time to enjoy anything now? Weekdays are all for work... and by the time I finished my chores, half my weekend has gone. I might have been a bit exaggerating here, but that is mostly what I feel.
Anyway! 6 years and counting. Maybe I’m just bored. Or maybe I need a holiday out from here! :p hehehe.. *start planning for national day
On the totally different note, I finally completed the movie “Valentine’s Day” after paused it for twice. It was such a long movie! But I like it quite lots :) Apart from the movie, I watched “Inception”, which turned out to be a very deep movie and made me wonder if I’m now living in a dream world too. Oh I wish it is… and when I wake up, I will still be 11 years old and have more wisdom in doing everything :p
This week, I had my favourite KFC for Friday :D On Sat, we went adventurous and have lunch @ Teochew Muay. It is a porridge buffet lunch, with a net price of $9.90. I can’t complain of anything. The place is better than expectation, and the type of food is something I thought will worth at least $15.00. I will recommend anyone to try it. Value for money! I ate so much for lunch that I was still totally full during dinner time. The owner was really friendly. He was looking at what we have ordered and said “What? You didn’t order any of the expensive stuff!” and start ordering squid, minced meat, and braised pork belly for us. Not only serving it personally to us, he even explained so well. I was totally in awe.

Our starter. Too hungry to take anything proper.
After the nice lunch, we went to Chinatown for a walk, and I finally got my rice dumpling, which was overdue for almost a month :p my first time eating rice dumpling in Singapore, the taste is quite similar with the one in my hometown.. what surprise me is the fact that the price is also the same! My parents told me that it costs around Rp 20,000 for one.
Anyway, out of guilt for taking buffet, I went for swimming on Sunday… then my appetite went up and I had a huge popcorn + billy bomber’s pork ribs for dinner. =__=.. man this is recursive circle!

Poor pig got eaten by a cannibal
Btw, I woke up early Sunday morning and found a blood red stain inside my right eyes. According to uncle Google, it’s called Subconjunctival Hemorrhage (I copied and pasted it, never asked me to spell it). I will monitor its condition for a week… if things didn’t get better…. Time to declare MC :p (my God I’m taking my eyes for fun! *knock my own head)
Ok, it’s twelve now, shall prepare myself for Monday!

World Cup Final!
How can each week just passed like that! I can’t believe this is another week again :(
Anyway, I have gone through the busiest week for this month. Phew. It was packed late conference calls almost everyday, preparing for the monthly forum, and... getting the first appearance in the forum itself! Hahaha.. I don’t know whether I should hate or love my boss... he just arrowed a presentation to me without giving me a time at all to prepare... anyway... it’s over now~
This week, I have finally gotten a chance to talk to my boss. I requested for his feedback and here are 3 improvement areas that I gotten: Communication, communication, and communication!! T_T
1) "Be careful of who do you included in the email. Before your blast a mail, try to think from the recipient's perspective, if it’s required for them" (yes, this is particularly important as my work involve a lot of ‘broadcasting’. There is a thin line between my position and spammer)
2) "Do not always send request by email. Sometime you just have to pick a phone and call them up. You tend to be hesitant when I asked you to call someone. Never afraid of calling people up or standing on their side just to make sure you get things done" (and I get complained the other day that my boss always be very pushy with his request)
3) "Widen your network. Engage with more people. You will be surprised how fast you can get things done when you talk to the right people" (this one I agree)
4) "Be more firm, give warning, give order, and do not afraid of asking people to do things" (yes, it’s easy to say it when you’re in VP position T_T)
Those are the main comments... and I know they were coming… I didn't remember getting any compliment (huh T_T) but at least the critics are not very bad, even though it will still be hard to quantify at the end of the year.
Surprisingly, after the feedback, he became kinder with me. He offered me a ride home at night… and I made a very good impression by getting lost with direction. T_T he got some calls from his wife asking what took him so long. I must say he is a very family oriented person.
This week is a shorter week for me. After the forum on Wed, we cancelled our Thurs call. I thought I could leave earlier, but alas, I remembered my Friday training on last minute. In the end I have to stay in the office until 1am to clean up the pending stuffs I planned for Friday.
Sleeping at 2am and waking up at 7am, I didn’t put a lot of attention during the Negotiation Training. I had the training in the exact same place and room where I did my Project Management Training. The food was good, but the training content was too little. It taught exactly the same thing (if not less) then what get taught in 180 Communication skill during my 1st year in NTU. Nothing much except getting to know some friends, and even some people who I have been interacting with for quite some time, but never see face to face =)
After the training, Glen and I went to overeasy for Sab’s farewell party. It has been such a long time since I met her, but nothing much change; she is just as fabulous as usual :) I interpret the bar name as “things get over too easy”, which turns me to melancholic mode :’(

With Sab @ Overeasy. Take me some courage to post this 'unbalanced' pic =.=

I wasn’t feeling to well at that day, hence I headed off at around 9 and reached back house at around 9.30… I stayed at home for the rest of the day watching “Date Night” which is surprisingly good =) Better than Karate Kid I must say!
The next day, I slept like pig until 11, then adventurous enough to go hunting for food. When we say hunting, it means some which not in the 100m vicinity from MRT / reachable only by bus. We reached Boon Tong Kee @ River Valley, which, I must say, worth the travel! The food is nyummy and I guess I will be back for more with the 10 bucks voucher in my hand. Hehe.. We went to Swirl@rt for yogurt dessert... which I lurved so much! Will come back for more!!
After the lunch, I suddenly switched to shopping mode and spend (at least) 500 bucks before dinner =_=’’The stuff were already in my shopping list for quite sometime, but yesterday I just ticked them all somehow without a plan. We have dinner @ Beppu Menkan. It’s a Japanese noodle shop, where you can pick the level of chili you want for the noodle. They have five different level and I was so tempted to try the fifth… but my friend warned me of how his other friend’s lip turned like Angelina Jolie’s after the noodle… so in the end I started with level # 3.
It was good… just the right amount of spice… and I have to control hard not to choke. In total, it’s a good ramen for $11. My iPhone hanged when I took the pic… so no pic! (I’m getting irritated with iPhone these days)
We paid a visit to helios’ lair, and stayed there in awe watching MBC Star Dance Battle. They are just awesome! We finally decided to went back at around 9, and starting off with another movie “Cop Out” for the night :p The movie is below expectation :( Don’t know why Bruce Willis played such a movie T_T Such a big difference with his Die Hard 4 (even though I haven’t watched it, he :p)
Sunday, is my chore day… I did sweeping, mopping, ironing (at least reduces my guilt of not going out for sport).. And spend some time watching “Alice in Wonderland”. It was not a very amazing movie, but at least it managed to engage me till the end. Now I know what the famous Walt Disney “Alice in Wonderland” is all about =)
Talking about animation… I can’t wait to watch “Despicable me”, which everyone said “So cute I’m gonna die!”… and “Toy Story 3”… and oh of course, other than animation, the new movie “Inception” from Leonardo…
… I’m addicted to movie these days… blame it to the TV series which decided to all rest until the next season! T_T Well, at least I watched them in the nearby theater (read: room) which offers free movie, free air con, and free chips! Hahaha..
Dad & Mum have been busy this week due to the school reunion.. Can't believe that they pull it off. All alumnus from year 1965 to now... I can't imagine how my small hometown can fit them all. Some coming all the way from Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Taiwan, etc.. even US!
Ok, going off to bed now! Netherland Spain whoever wins please do not turn Paul to Takayoki!

Happy Independence Day, US!
July.
Two years ago, it marked my big turn from student to employee. One year ago, it marked my shift from CBD to IT Hub. This year…? I get a boom for my income tax! Bye Macbook Pro.
I’m still in the same office, even though I have moved to different team. I’m getting comfortable in my current team, getting so much engrossed with myself. Once I looked around, I then realized that so many people have come and gone. All these changes still surprised me after two years. How can people decide to move on after so many years in the bank? What does it mean? Do I have to start getting out from my comfort zone and look around too…?
It makes me anxious to keep hearing my friends switch job. Look for more opportunity and challenges, they say. Being a Kiasu (fear of losing) person I’m, I want to follow too! But at the same time, I aware I have never been in the same team for more than half a year. I’m still learning all along. I can’t give enough reason to convince myself to move on… so I stay… :)
I’m curious to know where I’m next year! If I’m still in the same team doing the same thing, maybe it’s then a sign for me to rethink.
On Thurs, there are two new grads joining in the office. I haven’t gotten a chance to speak with them, but will definitely do so… there are too many meetings and conf call these days… I can hardly get myself off phone once the clock hits 2PM. Have no one to blame as most of the calls are initiated by me.
I thought that I will be working overtimes a lot this week, but I’m kind of wrong. I managed to walk out from office at 8pm on Friday (Yay!), even though I reached Clarke Quay only at almost 9.30 PM because of my sense of direction (I’m really sorry T_T). We took dinner & had a small walk around Clarke Quay. Everyone there was watching football! Cafes are making lots of money! hehe...
I intended to go swimming Saturday morning, but the weather didn’t allow to, so I did my chores. In the afternoon, we went to Koufu for lunch and to IKEA to accompany Mr Moja doing his furniture shopping. He got some vase, some wallpaper, and some decoration… which will never go to, even only my restaurant city, shopping list. I don’t really understand how my mind works. Am I that stingy or I’m just too much of minimalist?
After the shopping, we (Helios, Winson and I) went to NTU Alumni Club for evening swim. Very big thanks to my roommate for lending me her member card. The swimming pool is larger than the one we had in the previous condo, and I really have to put effort in completing the 12 laps. Afterwards, I can’t stop myself from getting a huge dinner =_=’’ What a waste. Haha..
That night, I watch football for the first time in this 2010 (can’t remember if I watched any last year). We gathered at Yongky’s place and I witnessed the first goal by Germany. The rest is history. I didn’t watch everything (unable to decide between football and Donald duck comics), but I can feel the spirit from everyone else. I support Germany for the rest of the match… Like their attire lots :p
One of my friends, who is an Argentina’s supporter, commented that Germany won because they were using German ball, Adidas, for the match. The ball was complained to be too bouncy for the other team. Not sure how true it is, but I heard lots of funny comments which can only come from football mania.
Anyway, I suddenly hit by a lot of pimples this week. Further investigation revealed that the supposely 'nutritious' medicine I'm consuming is too heaty. Have to stop the intake for now. Sometimes I'm very confused with all these chinese medicine. You have too take it to keep yourself strong. But if you take it too frequently, you will fall sick. Sigh. This area is still a big black hole for me. I haven't been eating KFC for the last few weeks and still I get sore throat because of the medicine!
Sunday is the day for long deep sleep. Sadly, I didn’t have good sleep these days :( I kept dreaming about office & its worst case scenario. Is it a sign of stress? It’s not that bad actually. It makes me realized that situation can turn so much worse, and I should feel thankful that the reality is still within control.
But still! I don’t mind some grand dream… let’s say a holiday in Japan or winning a lottery. Maybe I should change my pre-sleeping habit. I should watch some movies rather than playing games (what is the difference anyway ^^;)
For once, I feel unmotivated because of my iPhone :( I lost ALL my contacts in my address book after restart. To complicate matters, I accidentally deleted my backup when I formatted my computer last week. Think about all the information I have put in: The birthday, the address, the email, I can’t help but to keep blaming apple of having such a faulty software release this time (Still in denial mode)
Now is 6.30. Time to look for some dinner before watching Alice in the Wonderland. I heard from my sister that weather is hot in China now, but SG is so cloudy & rainy!
Go Deustchland Go! Win the World Cup and give us a day off! :D
