To the end of June

So it was a 2 days business trip. Sunday night as I reached the hotel, I unpacked my stuff happily… didn’t realizing that I have to pack all back on the very next day!

It was a team building day on Monday. There are almost 50 of us in a room, and we’re supposed to know each other at the end of the day. The instructors were quite good. Sometimes we’re asked to gather with people we know the most and share our weakness, and sometimes we have to introduce ourselves to people without picking anything related to work. It was a nice icebreaker session. I didn’t blame it to the instructor when I still didn’t get lots of name at the end of the day… my recognition capability is just somehow behind average :(

The session ended at 6pm. I went back to hotel, consolidating the feedback, day activities, pictures, and sending them to the entire participants. The work didn’t stop there. To the fact that I hardly been in office for the week, I had a whole week of backlog emails to finish. By the time I was done, it was almost 2am, which is 4.30 am in Singapore T_T After packing my stuff; I went for 4 hours sleep.

Tuesday was a tougher day for me. I was assigned as a time keeper and minutes taker. Everyone was given half an hour to talk, but almost all stretched to two hours each. I was really clueless on how they want me to be a time keeper. The most I can do is to keep reminding them that we’re half an hour, hour, two hour, three hour, behind schedule… but the discussion is going on anyway ^^;

After all the stretched, we managed to squeeze the last presenters and finished at 7pm sharp. I would love to take more pictures, but I had to packed and left fast, as there was a flight to catch at 11pm. I reached Benguluru Airport at around 9pm, and had some nice time eating instant noodle with the other team members in the business lounge. The flight itself was good, I watched an Indian movie “Karthik calling Karthik” and regretted it. It supposed to be a romantic movie! But turned out to be a psycho movie T_T I can hardly sleep afterwards…

We touched down in Singapore around 6.15am. I stopped at the Duty Free shop for 15 mins, but can’t figure out what to buy. The liquor I get last year for myself is still in the fridge. In the end I left empty handed. I reached back home at around 7am, finished my work writing the action points until around 9am, then slept for 4 hours and back to office at 2pm.

It was really tiring to be in the office after a flight. Thanks god there were nothing much to do as almost all my team members are still in India. I left early and felt better when coming back on Wed. The rest of the days of the weeks went fine.. where I’m settling down with my work and my bosses are overloaded with his work. I bet the residue will get to me by next week T_T

Weekend was good :) I finally went to IKEA for lunch on Saturday. I like the design & food there. It was so European style! I had the famous meatball spaghetti before going for the GSS items hunting. We started with Queensway Shopping Center and ended in 313 Somerset. There was no sign of flood at all in Orchard. After a dinner, we paid a visit to Boly’s mum at Mt. Elizabeth hospital. Take care, auntie. You will be well in no time! From the hospital, we went home and catch a home cinema “The Bounty Hunter”. Jennifer Aniston is still as hot as ever.

Sunday, I spent half my day in bed. I woke up at 12pm remembering that I haven’t called my parents. As expected, I got yet another lecture from my father for wandering alone in India. After a long lecture, I went for lunch and back with an ice cream and rotund belly. Next, I formatted my dear laptop, for it had shown the sign of dying couple of weeks now. Things are better after formatting, but the slowness remains :( Not sure how long will it survive with me…

After dinner, I spent my usual time writing mails and playing games. Talking about games, there was a research saying that people playing bejeweled-type game has better IQ than people playing pet society-type game. Too bad I’m on the latter category.

I would like to close my post today introducing an amazing iPhone app call Shazam. It’s astonishing – from technology point of view - how it gave the right answer for all the songs played, including oldies & Chinese song! And it took less than a min to identify all those. How does it remove all the noises? How does it deal with the remix song? And what if the song sounds similar in the beginning? Amazing AI.

Thanks to Shazam, I got the name of the song I have been wondering for years: 7 Seconds, by Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry :)

My iPhone can count chars now!

Happy Father's Day!

I’m out of routine this week.

Last month, I applied for leave this Mon and Tue, in the anticipation that I might be moving to the new flat on this week. Now with the fact we moved one week earlier, I wasn’t bothered to tell my boss to change my plan leave. It was a long thick face process to get it approved in the system. To actually request him to cancel the leave, I might have to wait until next year.

So I went to the office on Monday, for a couple of meetings that I can’t skip. I intentionally setup an “Out of Office” email, wishing that I won’t get any new stuff with this trick. It would have worked well, if only my boss didn’t run all the way to my desk asking me to switch it off :( My bad as I put his name as the primary contact on my absence.

Monday goes as normal. I feel bad of giving away my leave, but I least I get rid of those items haunting me throughout the weekends, and I have quite a peaceful Tuesday off.

I spent my Tuesday sleeping unknowingly until 10.30 AM. It was raining hard earlier and I was laughing at my flatmates who have to go to work on that nice weather day (well I got the Karma the next day). After checking some mails, I went out at around 12.30 to Tiong Bahru Plaza to settle some change address, setup giro for PUB, buy some cup noodle, and reached back home at 2.

I have to admit there are really a difference between staying in Bukit Batok and Queenstown. Everytime I bring this out, my parents will start lecturing with “Told you already since 2 years ago…” I was idling for sometime before finally doing my packing, and then went out for a meet up with Ms Mandy.

I went to orchard (which is 15 mins away by bus) and went to KBOX at Cineleisure for the buffet and KTV session. I feel that it was a good deal. $27 for Sakura-style buffet + 4 hrs of KTV. The price can easily go up to $40 on the weekends. What a big difference!

(I just suddenly realized I was in Orchard the day before the flooding)

On Wednesday, I survived the heavy rain and make it all the way to office. Office was half empty when I reached at 10 AM. Is it the rain or the football... will always remain a mystery for me. I run away from office at 7.30 and reached back home after dinner at around 9.00 PM.

I already forgot how tough it is to wake up at 7.30 until Thursday. I set my alarm at 7.15 but I was still in dreamland until 7.45. Thanks God my roomie had alarm too and she didn’t mind letting me use the bathroom first. I managed to reach City hall MRT around 8.35, get a toast from Breadtalk, and took a taxi to Pan Pasific (too complicated for a small brain like mine).

It was a good training session on Project Management. There are 15 people in the class, and I suddenly realized how small the world I have been working on. We have people from Vietnam, Hongkong, and Indonesia flew all the way for the training. We have US and Spain and France people during rotation to Singapore. We have GTB and GBS and how GT is just 3 out of 15. I’m impressed even before they started to talk. And when I heard of how many training they have done for the year, including international training, I feel that I have been way too kind and considerate with my boss (Heh, never satisfied, greedy, human nature :p)

Pan Pasific, Project Management Course

After a nice brunch and lunch and tea break (don’t asked what was taught), I went back to office and do my daily stuff and call until 11PM. Thanks to my 5 cups of coffee + 2 cups of tea during training, I stayed awake until 2AM.

It was a very big pain for me to wake up the next day.

I didn’t want to get out from bed, but I have no choice. I didn’t want to pack my stuff because I can’t think, but I have to. At around 8.20 AM, I finally dragged my bag out and flagged a taxi to hotel. Only when I reached the taxi and want to check the time again, I realized I forgot my watch!! :( And I’m not returning back to my home until Wed! I have such a huge dependency with watch… I don’t know how I’m going to survive the next 5 days in India without one. Sigh.

The training went surprisingly well for me. I survived with 5 cups of tea. After completing the training at 5 sharp, I went to the airport and changed my formal to jeans attire. I wandered around terminal 2 for around half an hour, visited SIA Lounge, ate some sushi, and finally board the plane.

How Changi reacts to World Cup...

Inside SIA Lounge, the Free Internet Section. See the Screen they are using?

It was an old plane, but the quality remains good :) I’m lucky enough to get into a plane which is not very full, and have a row for myself :D I ate non-stop, watched a HK movie “72 Tenants of Prosperity”, typed some blog, and reached Bangalore on time.

My delicious inflight Indian Food *Growls

Dwipin’s friend, Anoop, sent me to Casa de Bengaluru. It was a nice hotel with free wifi. I had a shower and surfed the internet for some time before knocked off to bed. The next day, I woke up at around 9AM, packed my stuff, had some breakfast, and catch a bike to the Forum.

There, I managed to get some cloths and Chicken Maharaja McD before finally leaving for Kannur (thanks Durga!) It was a long 9 hours drive, but we manage to catch Dwipin’s dinner reception at his house. I dropped to bed right after I reached back the hotel.

If there is one thing I learnt on Saturday, it’s the fact that India is huge! And it easily took an hour to get from a place to another. Time just flies on my stay in Kannur. After the wedding ceremony and early lunch on Sunday, we drive all the way back to Bangalore again.

Happy Wedded Life, de Baba!

I’m currently in the hotel room, watching a movie called “Obsessed”. It was indeed an obsessing movie. Hope it won’t turn out to be a psycho movie. Time to shutdown the computer… and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

Just right to knock off...

I felt that the two days have been like a dream. I went to India, travelled to the other state, and come back safely to Bangalore. This has been a better experience than London so far :p

And yes, the fat is real too T_T I ate too much!

Three-Week Summary

There are three-week backlog of stories I want to share in this single post but time already ticking to 12.00 AM :( Blame it to my cozy room that I actually fell asleep for two hours when it starts to rain… now I am fully awake when all my other flatmates are already sleeping.

Lets keep this quick! :)

Couple of highlights in my life in this last three weeks…

On 28 – 31 May, my parents visited me in Singapore. I expected it to be a relaxing visit, but it turned out to be fully packed! Friday, relative’s visit. Saturday, gathering lunch + insurance settlement + wedding dinner. Sunday, bakut teh lunch + key handover for new flat + montrosa + temple + airport. With so many placed we visited, I’m thankful that Singapore actually has a good taxi system. If I took the same times of taxi in Europe, I think I have to kiss good-bye to one month salary. Haha..

Yes, this is in one of the agenda too!

After my parents leave, the next milestone was house moving! 2 years aren’t short time for you to accumulate useless stuffs.

The house condition on the last day before moving

We don’t know how we finally moved out, but we made it! The next day, we called up a maid to clear up all the mess we have caused :p she is a pretty good maid… she got our place back to the condition it was two years ago :) (and made us gotten our deposits! Yay!) Thanks, Anitha!

The emptied living room – rewinding memories!

How are we doing in the new place? I’m satisfied enough so long as I got aircon in my room :) But I really can’t ask for more… with 20 mins from my flat door step to office cubicle, I don’t have to jump when I woke up at 9am ;)

First week staying in this queenstown area, I visited the 24hrs McDonald 3 times =.=’’ not something to be proud of really. But what to do.. the McD is so conveniently located between office and my place..

… which brings me to another problem… I’m gaining weight! I haven’t been doing exercise for the last 3 weeks and I blamed my laziness for this :( I kept giving excuses that I’m too busy.. But at the end.. It’s about determination…

First week staying in the current master room, I almost fell from my bed three times. I still need to get used of not sleeping against the wall, but apart from that, everything is fine :) There was some problem with the inet earlier, but it’s finally fixed. Thanks Winson!

About the upcoming family holiday… I have finally booked a tour to Switzerland… but the travel is really subject to confirmation :( there is NO one yet booked that particular tour… and if the tour is not confirmed… there goes wasted all the debates I have with my parents… The tour is supposed to happen on Sept… So lets see.. wish me luck!

Talk about travel, I’m going to India this coming Friday! :) it’s actually only for a two days meeting, but I don’t mind stretching it to the max ;p there are lots to be done… I haven’t started packing and I will have the two full days training this week too… so… first thing now is to make sure that I can wake up fresh and settle my stuff before end of the week.

Hence… sleeping now!

Eh, wait... some other stuff that I want to jot down:

Last week, met up with Nova – after so many years! :)

Office people vs onleave people

Last week, last lunch @ Al Ameen – the makan place served us for the last two years

With my favourite Briyani :) Best with take away!

Yesterday, watched The A – Team, great action movie! I love it.. but not satisfied with the ending! I want their names to be cleared!

Sunday, ate the voted best ramen in Singapore @ Miharu Sapporo Ramen. I… looooved it!!
The soup, the meat, the noodle... just nyummy!!
Okay shall really sleep now before I start drooling.
Listening to: Hey Soul Sister~ I don't wanna miss single thing you do~~
Congratz to a senior who just got into a relationship! :D
