The Challange: Launched.

Monday: Received a pre-warning message about the new upcoming execution, got the details of who will suffer with me together for the next 2 months, had a normal lunch with others, discussed about some precautions, and then continued with my daily activities.

Tuesday: Had my first meeting with fella inmate, tried to pick the three seems to be the lightest executions of all. Afterwards, sent our choices to executioner and she replied that she will get back to us as soon as the next day.

Wednesday: Had no mood to eat, took 10 minutes for lunch before waiting in vain for the result to be out.

Thursday: Received the confirmation. I will be executed by my own department. Plan to have the execution drill on next Thursday.

Friday: Went to the farewell party at around 8. Met quite a few acquaintances who sent their condolences to me. Went back to cell at around 10pm and had some thoughts about my life so far.

Saturday: Allowed to visit my relatives for the last time.

Sunday: Realized that I have been psycho about the entire blog entry.

Ha.

All thanks to the psycho movie that I watch while writing this: The Uninvited.

The plot was quite predictable, but it is still scary T_T. I can’t remember the last time I watched horror movie, but I felt quite weak this time around. When the movie ended, I am so glad that I have roommate and suddenly understand why God created a roommate. Haha.. Else I won’t even dare to sleep tonight.

Anyway, in the real life, nothing is as bad… yet. The CIO Challenge was launched, my team was formed, our sponsor was defined, and the first meeting had been confirmed. The next two months will definitely be challenging =D

On the opposite side of this heavy psycho movie, I had another movie “GuGu The Cat” this week. Credit to Lele for the free movie preview! Note that the movie was not even premier yet. It was a Japanese movie about manga artist and a cat. Quite light, but I like the way the story goes, and it was definitely not boring at all. Maybe it is because I like manga… Or was it because of the companion (shy shy), I’m not sure (bet Lele has sweat drop on her head as she read this) hahaha.. anyway, Thanks Lele!

Friday night was an alumni night for international students. Sort like reunion. The event was pretty good. The food was alright, but the quantity was below expectation. It was only left with rice, noodle and potatoes when I reached the buffet table :s Anyway… I enjoyed the event. Met quite a number of seniors and professor. Feel glad to catch up again, although 0 new acquaintance :p

Talking about acquaintance, I found a new relative in Singapore! All happen during the house warming of aunt new condo @ City Square Residences. I meet someone about my age, from NTU, on some relative connection with me, who I need to call her “Aunt Gladys” =.=’ She is such a nice gal, and I’m quite sure that I won’t miss out visiting her family on CNY :p haha…

@ Block 6, Level x, Unit xxx, Credit to "Aunt" for the pic!

Alright, 12 o’clock now and it’s time to charge up for the coming Monday…

Please don’t haunt me, you’re not invited.

Quarter-Life Crisis

What?

Can’t believe that weekend is here again! I’m glad for weekend, but scared with how fast the time flies. Why am I so scared? Is it because I haven’t planned anything for my future? Or is it because I have time to think and scare of my future. Either way, I know I need to do something. But what? T_T

A bit too early, but I think I got the QLC (Quarter-Life Crisis) syndrome. It’s a crisis that happened mostly to fresh grads. Some of the syndrome includes:
- Nostalgia for university life
- Frustration with relationships, the working world, and finding a suitable job or career
- Confusion of identity
- Insecurity regarding the near future
- Insecurity concerning long-term plans, life goals
- Insecurity regarding present accomplishments
- Re-evaluation of close interpersonal relationship
- Boredom with social interactions
- Loss of closeness to high school and college friends

I feel that I’m affected with most, if not all, of the syndrome specified above (to know more about the syndrome, search wiki! Haha…) May be not to a very high extreme, but still…

How to recover from this? Maybe it’s time to hit the bookstore (or some downloading site, erm)

On a brighter side, despite the entire syndrome, I’m glad that I still have friends that I can share with. Thanks for always be there, pals :)

Alright, enough mind wandering for this week. Have a great weekend everyone!

Contradictions in Life

Do you ever hear something similar to this proverb:

“Love is not finding someone you can live with; it’s finding someone you can’t live without”

I found the statement beautiful and touching at the first place, but when I think further, I wonder how it could be possible.

Everyone is born single. Until a certain age, yeah, you can’t live without your parents and guidance from others. But afterwards, you are demanded to be “independent” and no longer requiring parents support.

Of course you will still interact and making friends, but you’re expected to crave your own path and decision, aren’t you? Friend will find you annoying if you nag on them in anything you do, and you will hence be called immature. So, if the condition itself is forbidding you to be dependent to someone, how can you in the end find someone you can’t live without?

Sigh…

Alright, enough. Maybe I take the proverb too seriously. haha... This is one of the drawbacks of being a computer science student; you want logic in anything you do ^^; In fact if I follow this particular proverb to find the one, I am quite sure that I will end up single for the rest of my life. Hahaha… I know there is no hard rule in love… there is no one to be responsible to your choice, and in the end, you have but your own base to decide on your choice… In conclusion, you are independent to choose who to be dependent with. What a contradiction. I am confused.

Let’s end this post with yet another contradiction from my favorite Dilbert's one liner:

In order to get a Loan, you first need to prove that you don't need it.

Welcoming the dawn of Long-Weekend List

Finally! After 3 months of monotonous five-working-days, few happy-long-weekends are on the line. First one comes this April 10th. Thanks Good Friday! Happy Easter day to those who celebrate it too :)

My work life balance has been great so far. I left at most 7, and have chance to do the things I want in the evening. No more taxi claim because of the late work. Maybe it is because I’m new and still in this honeymoon period, but I will definitely make good use of it. Ha =D

Anyway, cost cutting still on-going everywhere. Right after my blog post, ORQ terminated their free Financial Times distribution T_T my office terminated its newspaper subscription, and even free newspaper like Today and My Paper don’t get delivered to the doorstep anymore. This is just further proved how far has recession goes. There are some benefits as well, like the delayed of debt interest and reduction in public transport fees, but it comes together with reduction of the deposit interest. Aiya. Hope that these adjustments actually benefit the people in need. And wish that things will get to normal again soon.

On Monday, I went to develop Aurelie’s photos and sent it out to my parents. She is really cute… my little angel. Seeing her photos make me motivated to arrange for my holiday at Australia. Auntie really can’t wait to see you soon. Haha..

On Tuesday night, my auntie came and I went to visit her condo @ Farrer Park. It was City Square Residences, and the place is fabulous! The swimming pool is at least four times as big as the one at my place. It is new and so posh. It was out from my wildest dream to stay in this kind of place, and will remain a dream for several years to come. Haha… Really, I don’t mind to stay in that posh condo, but I’m happy enough to stay at my current place =D young people shouldn’t been flattered with too much comfort (feel so old of saying this kind of thing)

The swimming pool looks terrific, even in my E66 lousy camera

On Wednesday, I finally met up with my IA supervisor again. He looked very different in suit, but of course still recognizable. Can’t believe that he was still treating me for the so belated birthday ^^; Thanks Alfon! Appreciate the lunch, knowing how many times we have rescheduled it.

On Thursday, the last day of the short week, I went for a dinner at New York New York. I had been seeing and wanting to try it a lot of times, and finally have the chance to dine there. I didn’t miss a lot for not dining there, actually. The foods are well served, but they are… erm, a bit tasteless. A bottle of salt and pepper saved my dinner.

Friday, I woke up at 10, but it never shrinks my motivation to jump to the pool and drink some water. Haha. After the fresh start, I cleaned up my room a bit, and went for a movie at GV Boonlay. The Shinjuku Incident caught my attention from start to end. $7.5 worth spent. But there are quite a lot of sadistic scenes, and it sticks in my mind till now T_T Glad that the Saturday movie “Yes Man”, has the curing effect. Bravo Jim Carrey! =D

On Sunday, my beloved relative (and enemy :p) come to visit me. Finally after 4 years! I would like to thanks her friend, Chin Xu, for dragging her here to Singapore. Judging from their itinerary, I must say that they are really adventurous. They travelled Jakarta -> Singapore on Wednesday, Singapore -> KL on Thursday, shopped @ KL on Friday, KL -> Singapore on Saturday, continued with Singapore -> Batam on Sunday and Batam -> Jakarta on Monday. I already feel exhausted as I typed it down. Have no idea how they survive and still meeting me with such a big enthusiastic face. Wonderful.

Anyway, I am still a tour guide who needs to improve time her time planning. I want to show them so many places, and finally shortlisted it to four, and went to two only in the end =.=’ I even failed to bring them to some better dining. The time was not at my side T_T next time please visit for at least few days, OK? Haha..

After a day of fun @ Science Centre and Snow City

So… That’s how I ended my long weekend =D Happy about it… and looking forward for the next to come!

Sneeze sneeze,

Happy (Belated) April Fool!

Yay~ Whenever I heard April, the first thing formulated in my mind is what lie to tell :p April is so identic to happy-fooling-without-the-guilty-feeling day. I managed to fool my friend during the first 5 minutes on April Fool. I have decided not to trust people on that day, but still... I was tricked!! T_T Kudos to YX. haha.

I moved to my next rotation. So have I completed the 3 months of 2009. This rotation had been special in its own way. I start with different team, different desk, different floor, different office building! and it lead to different MRT station, different breakfast menu, different lunch spot, and different office hour :p Some gets better, some is still on adaption mode. Think about walking 5 minutes to reach your pantry. And I am still not used to the so many doors leading to all different world path. I once turned at a junction only to find gents instead of pantry :s I am not sure whether the stay at this building will be permanent.. but let’s see.. I am pretty glad to get a free copy of financial times every day :p

So, I’m now at the ORQ building. The office is definitely greater, but I feel the longing for my office at Tanjong Pagar. I missed the walk, I miss the food, I miss the familiar environment… sigh. Maybe this always happened when you move to a new place.

Talking about new place… I was having intention to move house next year… but seems like the discussion doesn’t go well, and I might not be able to move. Nevertheless, I have viewed 2 places. One was Novena Lodge, 3+1 condo, 15 mins to MRT @ 2,500SGD. Another one was Bedok Block 219D, 2+1 hdb, which environment had made me super drooling: new, 5 mins to mrt, 5 mins to hawker center, 5 mins to sheng siong, ntuc, shop and save.. gosh.. it even has pizza hut there! Not to mention the completeness of bank nearby… I want I want.. but still…

Yeah, there are quite a number of things pending in my mind right now. Tomorrow I might be going to meet my aunt and view another condo at little india. I never expect that I will be viewing so many units without having any conformation that I can move ^^; hahaha..

Ok, update time.

I finished Angel and Demon. Robert Langdon's first adventure and the last Dan Brown book on my reading list. The prolog was so similar to Da Vinci Code that I though that I have read it before =.=' Yet, the whole plot is no less than fabulous. I overspeed Langdon's analysis only on how to destroy the weapon :p Btw! When I was reading the novel, I meet at least 5 people reading the novel too. It's quite a funny encounter, especially since the novel has been out for soooo long. I know that it's definitely because of the movie... and I am really looking forward to watch it this May. I saw the trailer... but feel that it was not as good as the novel. Hope that I am wrong. haha..

I have been waiting for this weekend for quite long. I am so glad to have a gathering with my uni mates again. It felt like forever since our last gathering. We had BBQ at our place, thanks to Rin2 and Jess2 to organize it =D everything was perfect… the scariest time being when it started to get cloudy and rain at 7.30. Lucky that the drizzle only last for a minute and we could continue grilling things again afterwards =D We finished at 10, as requested by the condo management. All food are settled to our stomach. And the best? I only need to take a lift to reach my home sweet home. Hahaha...

Few moments before it started to rain

And yes, knowing the fat that I have piled from last week, I went for jogging again this Saturday. Thanks flatmate! :) This time we explored bukit batok park, which was surprisingly beautiful with a pond in the middle of it. I would definitely take some pictures if I go there again next time. Back from jogging, I continued with swimming. I am moving in the water, but haven’t gotten the essence of the leg movement yet. And I am still drinking a lot of water T_T but never give up! Next week will be another training week! Yay!

Ok, shall go ironing my shirts and get ready for another week tomorrow. Looking forward to the good Friday holiday. Uhuuui~

Yeah, my arms and legs hurt T_T
