A new chapter - Coming soon on 1st July

“A mix of nervousness and excitement”
- Erlin Diana

A new place to be called home

Today is my last day of holiday as well as my last day of holding my Student Pass. I’m quite settled down with my new place ^^ Like what I done during IA at Apple, I have compiled a list of Pro and Cons of staying here… Starting with the cons first:

Cons:
Far from bus stop (5 mins walks)
Far from MRT somemore! (5 busstops)
The road is very steep (almost roll when I walk down and killing me softly as I walk back. Don’t want to imagine how to walk during heavy rain)
Far from any makan places (nearest kopitiam is 25mins walk)
Far from work place (need to wake up earlier T_T)
PUB x 1.5 from normal rate

Pros:
From the first 3 cons points: good sport exercise
Practice to cook at home
The place is shady, windy, cozy and quiet~
Swimming pool, tennis court and BBQ pit provided
The place is quite new (half of the furniture are recently brought from IKEA :p)
The owner is quite helpful and kind (some said handsome)
The flat mates are wonderful ^^

Yesterday, I just tried out my first creation: salty French toast… which costs me stomachaches for the rest of the day. Yesterday, I also have my first swimming lesson, which make me drank more than enough water for a day.

Wish that we’ll be able to stay here, with peace and harmony, until the time forces us apart :p

My belonging for 4 years

I’m a clumsy person. I ever lost almost anything, from a rubber and pen, to wallet, mobile, even camera. However, in my 4 years in NTU, there are 3 stuff that have survived this test of time, survived to be with me for almost everyday through my undergraduate life ^^

1. Pencil Box

Cleaned 3x, Fell down 100x pencil box

It was bought on my last day being a senior high school student, on my last day of school, at a small school mini market. There is no specific reason why I chose the pencil box, but I never thought that it will stay with me for so long! Haha.. For all the time you’re with me, through my sleepy lectures and frustrating exams, thank you.

2. Watch

4 years of service and counting

The watch was bought on 24 July 2004 at Singapore, few days before I started my undergraduate life. It was a gift from my dad, with an advice for me to treasure every minute of my life. I always impressed with my dad ability to pick something. I love the watch so much, and it still looks brand new, after 4 years. I only have to change the battery once and it never gave me any trouble (so far :p) I never go to lecture without this watch… Sometimes, when I forgot to wear it, I didn’t mind being late for lecture to go back and grab the watch.

3. Roomie

Me, Inche - Taken during first year madness

“Have you found a roomie in NTU?”
“Not yet… You?”
“Nope… Wanna be my roomie?”
“Sure, why not~”

It was such a simple conversation at school which finally gave me the best roomie for the last four years :)

Treasure you all, even more now.

PS: My PC can’t be included in this list.. starting from the power supply problem, mother board problem, memory problem and now harddisk… it constantly gave me a headache =.=

NTU -> BB

I’m back to Singapore! (Feel like keep repeating the same phrase over the past few posts.) Few days before coming back, I kept reminding myself that I will be going back to Bukit Batok (BB) instead of hall 14. Yup, my hostel period has ended… most of my friends have moved to new place as well. Really, I am sad to leave the place where so many wonderful memories were created… but I am looking forward for another chapter to be written as well :)

For the smooth transition from hostel to new place, I would like to express my gratitude to all my friends… who has helped me from the hunting, planning, until the moving, returning hostel key, and settling down (yeah, I think I’m a bit too unhelpful T_T) Thanks a million friends… you’re definitely the best… (bow bow)

The first day I arrived at Singapore, I took an MRT to BB, then called a taxi to take me to the written address. It was smooth and painless. After few hours of rest at new home, I decided to go to NTU to settle some stuff. I took bus 176, as suggested by my flat mate, to BB mrt.

Getting used to the Boonlay bus interchange; where I only needed to go down at the last stop; I passed few stops from BB mrt station. When I asked the person beside me, I was already 4 bus stop away from the designated stop =.=’ but luckily, it was still in walking distance… so I ended up walking 15 mins to BB mrt.

I reached NTU at around 4pm. After greeting It Land, I started to apply for visa. I completed my visa application at 6pm, only to find out that I made a small ridiculous error in the form. At that point of time, I then heard that library is closing at 7pm instead of 9! I was rushing all the way to complete the form again… I even begged the auntie at printing room to let me copy some stuff. All the lamps have been turned off when I leave the library… Thanks to the library auntie to wait for me such that I was not locked inside. I leave library together with all the other staff. Maybe that was intended to a memorable last visit to library? Hahaha…

From library, I sat at the bench and organized my documents, then dapao from the new canteen (Chinese at $1.8) and took a ride to BB mrt…

After reaching BB mrt, my second adventure began. Without any doubt, I walked to bus interchange and tried to find the bus 176… and yes, the bus didn’t stop at bus interchange! I can't believe it… I thought that all buses stop at bus interchange T_T (If you wonder whether I really have been in sg for 4 years, I doubt it as well) I didn’t know where else to wait, hence start to walk around… After walking for around 10 mins, I found a bus stop… but upon looking at the information board… I realized that I didn’t even know which bus stop I should alight. Finally, after several calls to flatmate and asking several questions to people around, I managed to get to the right bus. I reached home at 9++… T_T was super tired due to climbing the way home using high heels and carrying much stuff.

I wanted to jump to bed as soon as possible, but I haven’t even unpacked a single thing. With focus in unpacking only necessary stuff, I manage to get a rest at around 2am.

The next day, I woke up at 6am. I made a visa appointment at 9am, and definitely don’t want to be late (based from the experience with US visa application). I reached the building after getting lost for half hour… and I’m still too early for half hour. Haha.. (see, I’m good in setting buffer) The visa application didn’t go very smooth… well… haven't used English for the past one month + lack of sleep, I can hardly convey what I mean in English words. =.=’ I felt super clumsy there. I won’t be surprised if they suspect me as illegal worker with limited English ability T_T

After the visa, then I moved on to the birth certificate translation… my brain told me that Supreme Court is located near bugis… but my brain isn’t reliable at all. It was at City Hall… and I realize it only after I tapped out at Bugis MRT =.=’ So, I decided to go pray at Bugis first, before heading to City hall. I have almost no trouble in finding the Supreme Court (no trouble == asking less than 3 people) and get my birth cert translated. He asked me to come back on Tuesday to collect.

Don’t know where else to go with the blank brain, I decided to go back home and have some rest. Yet… as I back to home.. I remember that I haven’t finished unpacking yet T_T

I spent most of my Friday and Saturday unpacking. Almost can’t believe that I have so many junk ^^; hahaha.. on Saturday night, I have a wonderful date with Jasmine.. Finally!!! After more than one year… I miss you so much.. haha.. she look fresher, and even prettier than picture. Hahaha… We chatted over KFC and have some walk before going back home at around 10… She is going to start studying at SIM soon.. wish you all the best, dear~ so many things has happened since our last meeting at Apple… we really shall meet more… XD

Me and Jasmine - Still wearing the same cloth as last year XD

Sunday, I went to buy gift for supervisor with Winson and Helios, continued with buying household stuff with the same team + Tomy. We bought a lot of things… thanks god I have all the best logistic people with me. Muahahahaa XD (peace peace pals)

Monday, Helios started to work. Winson and I went to school to meet supervisor. Too bad, she was on leave :( lucky that we meet Stephen and Ilfina and have some chit chat… such that the way back to NTU was not wasted. Haha.. Oh yes, I ate ayam penyet again there. I lurve lurve it… now I realize how cheap is the price of food in NTU… huhuhu.. the price for a decent chicken rice in west mall is $3.5, and the taste wasn’t even half of the ayam penyet’s. hahaha…

So far, I haven’t managed to find a ‘near’ and cheaper food court from our home. I bought bread as anticipation, but will try to find some kopitiam asap… before I broke. Hahaha..

On Tuesday, I went to collect my birth certificate and shopped a lot. I didn’t sleep well on previous day, which make me super blur. I tapped at the wrong mrt TWICE! Once at city hall and another time at Raffles place. On my way shopping, I was notified that my visa is ready for collection, but must be collected before 3. I rushed there from city hall at 2.25. Can you believe that I get lost to the place I visited 4 days ago? Luckily, I can still make it on time (after running here and there) and everything seems to end well.

Wednesday, I slept to the max, and finally have some time to spend on blog ^^ read a lot of friends blogs… and now is going to read more~ :p

Few days to the new chapter,

Sayonara TB...

This must be my last post before going back to Singapore… Current weather is sunny, super hot. I remember I got aircon here… so I happily turned on the aircon~ less than 5 minutes, the aircon went off. Blackout. Can’t even open the fan.. This is worse than my hostel T_T… hahaha…

I’m going to Medan early in the morning tomorrow. Have already packed most of my stuff… Time passed really fast this holiday… still don’t want to go back to reality T_T Some of my friends are starting to work soon… Congratulations friends ^^ All the best for the first day! Remember me during your first salary pay :p

I didn’t do much at home… there is this funny chicken game called Pekka Kana 2 that I played through this holiday… I finished the game 4 years back, during my senior high school… and since the game is quite awesome (freeware, bug free, and most importantly, can be completed by me) I decided to play it again… btw, Pekka reminds me of Peko XD

Alright, this is just a short post. I’ll be back to sg on 19th June. My initial booking was 17th morning… then the valuair changes it to 18th night… then my sister doesn’t feel comfortable with evening time… so it ends up with 19th Morning ^^; hahaha…

Happy Father Day in advance,

Comic and others

This holiday seems to pass very fast… and I’m really scared seeing my face getting rounder and rounder everyday T_T Can’t be helped with the amount of food and sleep I get.

I mentioned in my previous post that I might be too old to be reading comics… it happens that I’m not the only one with that thought… my dad think that I’m waaaayyy too old to be reading these. The first time he saw me with a bunch of comics, he uttered some comments like “so useless, read until get up at 12 everyday”. The second time he saw me with those comics, he didn’t resist to scold me “What’s the use of reading those stuff? Read then still play computer. Take care of your own eyes! Don’t go to the comic rental again, I helped u return these for the last time.”

Sometimes I think that my dad is too fierce T_T I know that reading comics is not very useful, but that’s what I love to do to relax… is it so bad for me, even only for my holiday? And it’s not like I spent a lot of money for it… the rental price is less than the price for 10 mins internet. He always fulfill whatever demand I have for food, even if mum already cook a lot.. but for comics… sigh.. I simply don’t get it.

And as usual, I complained to mum about this… Thanks mum for always being a very good listener ^^… After the thing cool down, I rethink and see that dad’s scolding was not that bad. Maybe this is really the time for me to give up on renting comics. Being the youngest daughter, I am a bit lack of self consciousness… and this command did hit the spot.

So… I think that mark the end of my comic rental history :( I will not be renting comics anymore.. ix.. (but it doesn’t mean that I can’t borrow :p anyone wanna lend me comics? :p) In total, I only rent twice, once 13 comics, and another time was 11 comics. Giving up on comic itself might still take several years. It’s hard to stop what you start since 5, right? Hahaha… I still want to at least finish Conan :p

Comic - day 1

Comic - day 2

Now as I didn’t have comics to read.. I play computer games… hahaha… these substitutes are not bad… but I still love comics the most… T_T actually, sometimes I wonder why I prefer comics than movies. E.g. if I’m given the choice to choose between manga and anime, I will surely prefer manga. It usually has better art than anime, and I can enjoy at my own time and pace. I wonder if anyone has the same preference with me ^^; One more thing, I feel guilty for watching, but not for reading. Strange huh?

Ok.. I think I talk too much about comics already =.=’’

Few days ago, I finally get my final grade… and I’m now officially graduated ^^ I’m really shocked to see my FYP result… With the amount of holidays I took, I don’t think I deserved the grade.. you’re really an angel, sup (and examiner). I might be wrong to select DS instead of simulation, but I glad that I’m choosing the right date mate for this one year… thanks a lot… T___T

Now… for those who are starting or in the middle of FYP… ganbatteee nee~~ :D After going through all these, I will say that it does not differ too much from our general project. In fact, as long as we treat it as our general project, with deadlines of update to meet every week, we’re on good hand. The most common mistake was to treat FYP as self pace, prioritizing other project instead of FYP, and end up having no time for FYP. Be careful not to fall on this particular mistake. This was the advice of my supervisor on our first meeting… now I pass it down to junior.. wakakak XD

Btw! Today is the rice dumpling aka bak cang day. So glad that I can celebrate it at home… cause it means that I can eat as much bak cang as I want… hahaha… even auntie, knowing that I’m back this year, gave us more bak cang than usual… hohoho.. thanks a lot auntie.. yours is the best.. nyumnyum (blogging with mouth full of rice dumpling)

Next week will be Father’s day. Maybe it’s the right time for me to go to Medan and do some shopping before going back to Singapore ^^

A week in Indonesia~

I’m at my hometown now. The internet speed is so slow that there is almost no difference between connected and disconnected. Almost all the websites were timeout ^^; In the end, I decided to play only when I am really patient and have nothing to do… which is now.

My first few days here were filled with remorseful feeling. My body was here, but my mind stayed in Singapore.

Two days before my flight, I received an email from JetStar, which was changing my flight back to Singapore from 17 June to 18 June. Not only that, they switch the flight from morning to night.. sigh T__T I already feel uneasy with 17.. but now they easily changed it to 18 T_T

On the day before my flight, I received the mail that I have been waiting for 1 month, but only to figure out that they made mistake on the very first sentence. I then need to wait for reissue. They asked me acknowledge ASAP when I receive the reissued document and act accordingly. I wonder how I can ack and act when I’m in Indonesia? T_T

As I reached my hometown and check my email, I received 2 emails required immediate actions. One of them was the notice for me to apply for EP… and to apply, I need to request a document from NTU. If I were in NTU, it will be so easy for me to just apply and went to the office to collect. But now? After troubling my friends for the room moving, should I trouble them again? To request, collect and scan to me? And how am I going to apply for EP if all the other documents were nicely kept in Singapore?

Then, I worried so much about PEB interview on 29th May. And only few hours before my phone interview, my (soon to be) boss called me and asked me to attend a presentation on 11th June. But my ticket is on 18! T_T Then I called JetStar if it’s possible to change the date… and they told me that they don’t have any flight on 10th June…

At that point of time, I really think that my decision to go back was a big mistake :( There are too many things unsettled that make my stay here become so uncomfortable. My parents felt sad as they thought I didn’t like to stay in hometown anymore… that’s not the thing, mum dad… I’m sorry T_T

On the top of that, the first day of my arrival at TB was filled with pipe leaking, which flooded the whole first floor. On the second day, I, out of nowhere, brought 2 mobile to bathroom and accidentally dropped them to bathtub full of water. I screamed till my mum thought that I saw ghost T_T My heart was so sad… it only reaffirm me that I shouldn’t have back to hometown.

***

Yet, like what is being taught by “The Secret”, the negative thinking will attract bad things… After the ruined 5 mins PEB interview, I tried to see what I can do to solve the problems. I finally decided to be thick face and asked for my friends at sg to help. After requesting help, I felt much more better (merci all ma friends~) For the sink mobiles, my phone works again after changing the battery.. thanks God T_T whereas for the other phone, it works after being dried up for 2 days.

After that, I started to enjoy myself. I rent 13 comics in one shot and finished them in less than 2 days ^^; Still love QED comic as usual~ Oh, my favorite comic rental place was already closed… but I will never give up for comic although the new rental is far far away (far means 5 mins walk, far away means 10 mins walk, far far away means 5 + 10 = 15 mins walk)

I have no complain regarding food welfare. It’s twice more excellent than the food in china. Just hope that the weight won’t increase twice as well.

Daily activities wise, I wake up at 11am, shower, have lunch at 12pm, nap until 2pm, wake up for tea break, chat with mum, shower at 6pm, dinner, chat with dad until 9 pm, play time until 1am.

Oh! I went out with my friends yesterday.. and guess what, all of them are bringing boyfriends O.o… suddenly I realized that I’m really not that young anymore. No wonder the comic rental owner looked at me weirdly when I rent comics… am I too old even for comics now? Huhuhu… but really… when I look at those wearing school uniform and realizing that my student title is over soon, I felt so nostalgic… hometown always made me feel like I’m still in junior high school. I even still have my school uniform XD

Now.. I’m waiting for exam result on 5 June. Most probably my last exam result as a student. Have no hope to be the first viewer with this kind of internet connection. T_T
