Live from Changi (Again)

This is my first time taking valueair back to Medan (because the flight is just recently started). As the flight will be on 6.45am early morning, three adventurous people (Handarmin, Henry, and I) decided to stay at airport and save abit on Taxi fare :p

Before the departure, I spent my whole day packing stuff... Thanks that I manage to finish it by 9.30.

My dear room after packing T_T

The chronological order is as follow:
We left NTU at 10pm.
Reached Boonlay at 10.30pm.
Started to take MRT and reached Changi at 11.30pm.
Everything was smooth~

From 11.30 - 12.30, we went around Terminal 3 and took some pictures.

Guess what are we promoting! XD

From 12.30 - 1.30, we went to Mc Donald and I had a big mac extra value meal at $6.35.

A sinful big mac

From 1.30 - 2, we went to Terminal 1, which is the place for our flight
From 2 - 3, I slept lying at the whole four bench. Accompanied with Kenny G and Richard Clayderman instrumental songs, the experience wasn't bad, really :p
From 3 - 4, I was freezing
From 4 - 4.15, we went out from airport for a walk and I melt myself
From 4.15 - 4.30, we checked in our luggage and get in to the Terminal 1 departure hall
From 4.30 - 5 (now), I played Internet, have been logging in and out for 3 times :p The internet is free and super fast ^^

My source to blog at Changi

From now onwards, I may play another round of logging in and out, and then indulge myself in OSIM chair before boarding.

Ee.. it's not OSIM.. but I forgot the brand.. OTO maybe

In conclusion, I love Changi :D

I'm leaving soon... Take care everyone... and wish you all a great holiday ahead :)

Sate padang, nasi padang, nasi goreng, I'm coming~

The 3 days in SG

I reached Singapore at 5a.m.

After accompanying mum to find the Transit hall to Medan, I took MRT from Changi to Boonlay (at 5.50am.. I wondered if it's the first MRT :p) I felt super hot and was not in a good mood when I reached back NTU (my mood always swings when I didn't have enough sleep T_T) Unpacked some stuff, showered, then tried to sleep for one hour.

After waking up, preparing some stuff, then went to meet agent and screened through some furniture. Not having enough, all of us (ivana winson and I) went to IKEA to look at other furniture. we made some plans, went back hall, dinner, and get ready for another plan.

However, the plan was totally ruined as Helios saw me during the dinner T_T I was supposed to act like I haven't reached back NTU and the party was cancelled because of me... and when everyone is feeling dissapointed, I'll then turn up with the cake. hahaha... since the Plan A failed, we execute Plan B :p The party lasts until 12am, going home after saying happy birthday to Ilfina ^^

Happy Birthday in advance, Helios and Boly!

The next day, 25 May, most of my friends went to East Coast and rid bike. Me staying at dreamland until 10.30 before waking up and feeling fresh =D Finally! hahaha.. After reading blogs for almost 3 hrs, I then started packing. Gosh, I never know that my stuff are alooottt T_T Can't finish packing even until the dinner time. Tired with packing, I was then decided to blog and leave the packing to tomorrow :p

Now is 26 May, 5AM in the morning. I'll be in Changi again in less than 24 hrs. Still have quite alot of stuff to do... and I really hope that everything will turn out well... oh yes! I might forgot to update... I have found another place to be called home on June 15 onwards. Special thanks to all my soon-to-be flatmate for all the flat arrangement ^^ I’m sorry that I didn’t contribute much in the process v_v… I’m pretty sad to be leaving NTU hall.. where you don’t have care about electricity, internet, water, or toilet sanitary…(all of you who still staying in NTU.. treasure it!!) But still.. I’m looking forward for the new enriching experience :D a place with aircon and swimming pool.. muahaha.. (it sounds so tempting in this summer time)

Thinking that today might be the last night I share the room with my dear roomate, I almost can't believe how fast the time past...

First Week in NTU ^^

Last Birthday in NTU T_T

In these 4 years, I realized some facts about us:

I watch anime, you watch drama
I read blog, you read friendster
I drink coffee, you drink milk
I’m careless, you’re vigilant

I’m junk food lover, you’re health conscious
I’m midnight owl, you’re morning riser
I’m dust-blind, you’re dust-free
I’m close, you’re open

I think about the present, you think about the future
I’m rational-minded, you’re emotional-minded

I’m what you’re not
That’s how we balance and complete each other

Thanks for such a wonderful and sweet four year of roomateship =)

Sad to be leaving,

Journey to China - End

Now, I come to the conclusion part :)

1. As mentioned before, I gained another 5kg in my stomach. I don't know what size I will be when I come back from Indonesia next month T_T

2. Despite being windy for most of the time, the weather there is very dry!! One day without lotion and I'm changing skin.

3. During the first few days, I showered 2 times although it was windy. Near the end of the holiday, I showered only once although it has been a hot tiring stinking day (blush)

4. Internet experience was quite bad. I manage to install the Windows Live Messenger at the end of my holiday, but I'm unsure that I install the Windows Service Pack 2 correctly. After all the effort, the laptop is still as slow like before. sigh T_T

5. I took more than 1000 photos.

6. I was sad to leave. I can't sleep during the flight back to singapore. I ended up watching Jumper during the flight. Unlike the previous flight, this flight was FULL! but the service was still satisfactory ^^ They gave me snack to accompany me through the night. hahaha.. The only bad part was that I sat beside a huge person, who sleep throughout the flight and listening to music. I can't make my way to toilet at all T__T

7. In the end, The holiday has been greater than expected. I believe that companions played a big part in it. Thanks so much my dear mum, to accompany me there. dear sister, to be so reliable all the time. bro-in-law, to be so supportive always. cute nephew, to create laugher whenever u are. Thanks all.

Now... Back to reality~

Journey to China

My main purpose of going to China is to visit my sister... Hence, I didn’t do much traveling :p I spent 12 hrs sleeping, 4 hrs eating, and few hours walking around Kun Shan… hahaha…

I can’t really remember how many places I have gone to.. but there are really a lot of temples, mountains, and harbors.

List of place visited in chronological order:

Nanjing Road @ Shanghai :p

Yu Yuan Garden @ Shanghai

Xin Tian Di @ Shanghai

Ancient City @ Zhou Zhuang

Han San Xi

Tiger Hill

West Lake

Dunno What Temple

Forgot What Lake

Some Park

My Park :p

Wu Xi

Zu Jia Jiao

and finally - Internet @ home sweet home ^^

If you wondered why there is always only one person inside the pictures: my sister always hide when i want to take pic with her. Mum always run when I'm standing near her with camera. Sister's son is too short to take pics together with me. Sister's husband prefer to be photographer than the object T_T but lucky, I still manage to get some group photos. v^^v

Tour Group. Thanks for such a wonderful holiday, sis!

Let's move to other more interesting topic~~~ food~~~
Daddy always said that China got a lot of great food in cheap price… at the end, I still love mum and sister cook the most there. Maybe the taste bud is different? I can’t even feel wanting to eat their tiny bite.. not like here in Singapore where I always almost can’t survive the temptation of the crepes or takapochi. There they had stuff like stinky tofu and stone corn. I tried them, I could finish them, but I never have the desire to buy it again (if got people buying it for me, of course I will still eat :p hahaa..) I can never understand why local like stinky tofu? Any idea?

I intended to list out the food I ate... but cancelled because it's simply uncountable.

Nyummiest Homemade Sui Jiao (pic of 1 portion)

Weird Tough Corn (oh my poor teeth T_T)

Salmon + Wasabi @ Pizza Hut! The Pizza there is not cheap at all.. T_T

A Nice Fine Dining during Mother's Day

Japanese Buffet

Fish Shark Set Menu

And of course... KFC! Sadly, they didn't have cheese fries :(

Alright.. That's all for the food portion... write more and I might not be able to calm my stomach down now. hahaha...

The weather in China is pretty good; it was windy most of the time, making me sleep for more than 12 hours everyday. I really slept a lot here... even a 15 minutes drive to restaurant is enough to make me doze off… is it my real sleeping power which had been hindered so long by coffee? (The sleep contributes to my 5kg weight increase T_T)

So:
good weather -> sleep more
good weather -> eat more
eat more + sleep more = fatter

blame my fat to the good weather XD

Great 2 weeks holiday~

Journey to China - Beginning

On May 9th, I woke up at around 7.30. My roomie, who intended to accompany me, woke up half hour earlier than me =.=’… after a quick shower and breakfast at can 14, che2, son2, and I left NTU at around 9. We reached Changi MRT at 10.30… and I was supposed to pick up my mum who was arriving from Medan. When I checked the arrival time, her plane arrived at… 10.30. huh!? I can’t believe my eyes. I tot that it supposed to be arriving at 11.05!?!?

As I didn’t know where I supposed to be meeting my mum, we took monorail to terminal 3 first and check in myself. I then explained my situation to the officer:
1. I bought a pair of ticket to shanghai, one for me, one for my mother
2. My mother has arrived at Singapore, but I don’t know where she will be, as she should be on transit and not going out from the arrival hall.
3. She hasn’t checked in for the flight to shanghai yet… and since I’m the one buying the ticket, she might need me and my debit card to check in.

The officer then checked me in first, then advised me to go back to terminal 2, go into the departure hall and look for my mother there. I followed the advice. At that moment, time was already 11.35, and my flight is at 12.50. To make the thing more adventurous for me, my mum mobile wasn’t activated and my mobile was on low battery :S. I tried to call my mum several times, but there is no answer. Afterwards, daddy called… I explained the situation.. and my phone suddenly run out of battery. I opened up the mobile again, and it kept showing the low battery warning.

Che2 and Son2 accompanied me back to terminal 2 before we finally said good bye at the enterance of terminal 2. Thanks alot to both of you ^^ and so sorry to trouble you guys T_T

Thanks, Che n Son~

So… there I was at terminal 2 departure hall, my flight was in 1 hour time in terminal 3, my mum who supposed to be traveling with me hasn’t checked in yet, and I don’t know where to find my muuumm T__T I felt so hopeless there…

I never thought that I’ll be doing these things, but I did. I blindly asked almost each of transit counters if my mum had come there. Lucky that the information I got from the counter helped me to prune most of the wrong choices... and… I finally reached a counter who said “oh yes, the lady come here one hour ago”. I felt a bit of hope. At that time, my phone suddenly rang again and it was my mum calling from terminal 3. The person at the counter then explained to me that he had issued the ticket to my mother, because she showed the confirmation printout. I was fully relieved afterwards.

So, finally, I meet my mum at terminal 3 ^^ After hugging my mum, I called daddy using the free phone at airport. I should have trust my mum more next time ^^; She traveled more than me afterall. Hahaha..

We went on to the plane on time. When I reached the plane, my mobile’s battery suddenly show half full :S Maybe I need to buy a new battery soon. I was so excited inside the plane. It was only 1/3 full for the entire flight! Super duper nicee~~ The flight attendance kept asking us if we want any water or juice.. full service ^^

Empty seat everywhere~

Eluded by the non-stop drink offer, I order white grape wine in the first half hour of the flight. The stewardess gave me a full glass of wine. After sipping a bit, I complained to mum that the wine was not that bitter and looked like has been mixed with apple juice. I then finished the whole glass in 3 minutes.

That 3 minutes was my greatest mistake in the flight. After the wine, I feel… drunk. I can’t even finish my most-awaited lunch box T_T I also can’t eat the ice cream they provided… so wasted T_T feel like vomiting all the time. After the lunch, I tried to sleep… but my stomach didn’t seem to allow me to do so… and finally… I vomited =.=’ 3 times =__=’’ Thanks to my own greediness. It was my first time vomiting in a flight. My super awaited flight some more.

I couldn't even finish my delicious fish potatoes T_T

After the incident, I feel rejuvenated… I then walked to the toilet to wash my face. Mum ordered hot green tea for me… and I soon felt fresh again~ Talk to my mum for almost 1 hour before the flight finally arrived smoothly at Shanghai airport. No delay at all. Thanks SIA for such a great service. I really wished I didn't order the wine T_T hahaha…

Just after we got our luggage, my sister arrived and picked us up. We have a quick dinner and some walk at Shanghai Bund. It was beautiful... the scene was almost like singapore's marina bay, only bigger.. hahaha.. and it was really a hot dating spot. I almost can't take a picture without snapping a couple hugging or kissing. Wew. Not a safe place for a people below 18 :p hahaha...

Shanghai Bund at night

After visiting some other places, we finally went back to warner inn and rest for the day~

Computer Experience in China

Not being a Chinese literate user, 'troublesome' is the only word that I keep uttering for this whole week.

Before I came to China, I usually chatted with my sister and she would complain to me of how everything seems so confusing in Chinese. Sometimes I tried to give her a step-to-step instruction, but then I promised her that I'll try to fix the thing if I went there. The first thing I did when I was getting hold of her laptop was trying to check the internet connection. As I planned to format the computer, at least I must know how to set the internet back, right? So there I go trying to check and re-setup the internet connection.

Seeing all these squares and I was totally freak out.

I was not an expert in setting up connection; all I ever setup is my own internet connection in NTU, which is simply plug-and-play. I gave a try in this connection though... and it turned out to be totally a mess. Finally, I concluded that it was really beyond my ability to setup something by guessing. Then, I decided to format the computer first, hoping that I can change the language to English and then I can do a more efficient trial-and-error setup.

So there I go formatting the computer. I just know that there is this thing call recovery CD in laptop (alright, I never had laptop) which has this genuine windows inside (alright, I never had genuine CD :p) and all I need to do is reboot, click esc, and let everything run by itself.

In the middle of the installation, I realized that it was so automated that it didn't even gave me the chance to choose language. Further inspection shown that Windows DIDN'T allow us to choose language other than what we have paid for. If you want it to support multiple languages, you need to buy the one with multiple language pack, which will cost different price~

After 2 hours of blind installation, I arrived at newly formatted windows. All was totally in Chinese Traditional. And now I can't update anything for my sister because it's not connected to internet. And since it wasn't connected to internet, I can't check any website regarding internet setup as well. Yeah, I'm super clever T_T

I told my sister about the thing… and lucky that she didn't get mad at me. She said that she would call the internet service provider later and make appointment with them to check her computer. I, being a bit relieved, give another try on the connection setup... and out of the blue, it succeeds!! Yupppiie~ I manage to connect to dunno what internet connection using dunno what language. Muahahaa... (proud of my fool self)

Then, I tried to open and download windows live messenger for my sister.

It said that it required at least windows service pack 2 to run.

Then I tried to download windows service pack 2 for windows.

It said that it required other updates before I can download it.

Then I opened Microsoft website and download other updates.

Since I can choose language this time, I choose English and make sure that I download the right thing. When I finished downloading and try to install the thing…

It said that the thing downloaded is in different language with the current windows and is not compatible!!!

I almost exploded T_T

I decided to leave the computer for 3 days to get my temper down and give another try. I managed to download most of the update and left with the windows service pack 2. It keeps disconnected throughout the download section (and I can only use Internet Explorer to download. It complained when I use mozzila, and no, the automatic update didn't download it for me although I have turned it on)

Maybe I will take another 3 days break to get the things done. Hopefully that the new windows live messenger didn't require me to have service pack 3... T_T

Alright.. that roughly summarized my language barrier experience here. Haha.. Being here make me understand how important a language is.

Oh yes, I also have some 'troublesome' internet experience.

Open Microsoft update page and automatically reaching this lovely squared language

Open skype.com and arrive at non English page (again) Now I know why my instruction to dear sister can hardly synchronize.

And look! I can open blogger.com!

But not blogspot.com.

And since all the comments are kept in blogspot, I am sorry that I can't reply any of the comment. I'm safe and fat here. Thanks a lot everyone :') I watched about the earthquake also... and felt sorry about it T_T

Alright, next post must be a real travel post!

SCE Outing

Right after the last day of final presentation, SCE held an outing to Rice Table ^^ Special thanks to Erikson as the organizer!

Erikson, The Lao Pan

I, never been to Rice Table before, quickly signed up when the offer come. However, I never expected that I’ll be sick on the date itself… T_T But, despite being sick, I still ate in my ‘normal’ portion. Yeah, at least the $32.40 was put at the right place :p

CSC-ians and Praz :p

From all the food, I love Soto the most. It doesn’t make me full, it’s nyummy, and left a warm feeling in the throat :D The rest are worth trying… It has been so long since the last time I ate Indonesian food… ah~~

I really forgot that I was still unwell and eat almost all the chicken wing =.=’ I’m really weak to food.

The buffet went from 6 until 8.30. Afterwards, took some lame pics and went back hostel. Just after I reached hostel, I started to coughed severely again T_T I almost couldn’t sleep yesterday due to coughing.. sigh T_T

SCE Outing @ Rice Table

Right now, I’m so happy for my roomie =D Congratz, dear roomie! It's truly a dream come true! ^^ Take care a lot when I’m not around (I’m sorry to transfer the bactery to you T_T) Tomorrow I’m going off to Shanghai… This blog will hibernate for 2 weeks ^^

Enjoy the holiday, everyone!

Shanghai, I’m coming~

The Showdown

Finally… the presentation is over!

I was far from my best condition during the presentation… Coughing and sneezing for the whole day.. On top of that, can’t sleep well worrying about my lack of preparation.. and the weather was so hooottt (excuses)

Honestly, I was really scared with the presentation.. I can still remember that my last presentation was last semester during professional communication… and I practice 2 weeks only for the 3 mins presentation. And now? For the most important half hour of my university life, I practically practice less than 2 days.. T_T

In presentation itself.. I was all nervous… I kept looking at the slides, I didn’t look at my supervisor, not even to my examiner T_T… Since my examiner asked me to go fast, I finished my presentation in 10 mins.. afterwards, the question and answer went for another 2 mins.. and that’s all. And on the QnA question, my supervisor did help me to convince the examiner. She is really an angel ^_^ thanks so much for all your guidance, prof! I truly appreciate it. And I apologize for making you shock with my nervousness.. T_T (“Why you’re so nervous? Try to improve hor”)

Me and my dear "cubicle PC"

After the presentation, my next stop was MC. T_T I didn’t know why the place was so crowded, I waited for almost 1 hour there… and the doctor gave me 4 types of medicine, only with my explanation of “cough with flu symptom”

When I was given the medicines, the doctor did tell me that it will cause drowsiness.. but I never expected it to be that strong. I can’t even manage to finish my 20 mins Code Geass before I sleep for a long 10 hrs..

Today is the second day of the medication.. feel weak and sleepy all day (surprisingly, I can still eat a lot :p) going to have dinner now and go to sleep again… hope that the medicine will work.. I have many things I need to doo.... pleasee T__T

ZzZz and Zzz,
Erlin.D

PS: can feel that my blog entry didn’t well organized.. but currently my brain can’t think of how to make it up.. ZzZz

The Final Exam

I just finished my (hopefully) last exam in NTU. DS was fated as the last paper for good reason: not to demoralize and ruin the other exam. Yeah, the paper was horrible. Lucky that I looked at the past year exams and had a taste of how horrible it can be… else I might cry when coming out from the exam hall. Haha..

My old faithful pencil box, my last exam paper, my lucky seat number ^^

Finally, I managed to find out the reason of my low motivation in ADMT and IR exam. It was because of the TYPE of subjects they are. Both of the subjects were offered for post-graduate… which make the subject more towards self-learning rather than typical undergraduate learning… the lecture notes of those subjects are quite ‘abstract’ with many things to be researched upon.. me as a obedient undergraduate simply discard those slides.. hence ended up with nothing to be studied.. muahaha...

The DS exam really brought back the taste of undergraduate… the calculation, the memorization, and even the tricks that scattered around every question… T_T Despite of spending my largest mugging time in this subject, I still fell to those tricky questions… anyway.. again.. it’s over… so.. que sera sera~

Mugging time~ Henny and Me. Spot the odd thing? :p

After the exam, some of my friends complained why I put DS as the favorite subject T_T they urged me to revoke that… hahaha.. hmm.. well, since IR lecturer happened to give me a good mark on the IR assignment, maybe I shall as well hike up the subject ranking to be favourite :p hahahaa… just joking… but yup, yesterday, Kuiyu posted the result of the text search engine… and I really can’t believe that peko and I got the highest score… yaayy XD The result was judged based from others' query results. If a lot of other people returned the result as dumb as you, then your ranking will be high. It happened that we got many supporters.. hahaha… Thanks peko.. Thanks peko for making this second FYP a successful one ^_^ The stress paid! And please stop scaring me that the highest score actually means the lousiest result score T_T

Oh btw, as I said in my previous post, my china visa is completed! I was so happy.. really.. After the collection on Monday, I kept looking at it.. It is just as precious as the US visa, although without my face in it :p huahahaa... Oh, and yesterday, dad told me that mum’s visa is done as well.. ^^ bravo! China, wait for meee =D

The Hardwork

Ok, before the holiday mode ruined me, I shall remember that I still have FYP Presentation on Monday T_T

1st of May. Happy B'day my dear Brother!

Random pics:

New Pringles: Wild Spice... A must try for spice lover! I lurve it alot.. (despite making me sneeze for several times)

After my 21st B'day, Singtel finally gave me the roaming service! haha.. I can now feel the power of being 21 :p

Nice Mix Grill from Canteen 14... I MUST have it again before I am kicked out from NTU!
