上元節快乐!

This Sunday marks the end of Chinese New Year! And coincidentally, it marks the end of second month as well. Oh dear, it seems like the more I try to remind myself, the faster the time travels. And I will be getting another year older in March! Unbelievable how fast you grow after 17. haha...

So what have I done during the week of CNY? Hmm.. I did my first ‘lo hei’ during the RCHD CNY event (Thanks to Rina for the invitation). The place is… 15 minutes walk from my home! This is probably the only place near from my home… and it too going to move soon. The organizer mentioned that this might be the last event in RCHD, as they are moving to Bukit Merah next month.

And last Sunday, I finally manage to visit the brand new Resort World everyone is talking about =D The direct bus, 963R, passed through my bus stop… and guess what, it took met only 20 mins to reach Vivo! And 15 mins to reach my office! It’s as good as taxi. The price is 60 cents higher than the normal 963, but the time saved is also doubled. Imagine that I can sleep 20 more mins every morning… I quickly looked through the bus schedule… and soon get disappointed that it’s only available on weekend. Oh well… at least it’s a good information and I can use this bus when I need to go to office on weekend. Haha..

Resort world is awesome. On that day, the place was not very crowded, the weather was good, and the companions were great :) Even though we didn’t get the chance to visit the casino, we had fun visiting the 4 brand news hotel and took photos all day long. We went to Sentosa and Underwater world too afterwards. Soon before we realized it, time was already 6. Once we boarded the bus leaving Sentosa, the rain was pouring down really hard. Glad that we left just on time :) I was actually wanted to view the CNY light up and Song of the Sea as well, but hmm, time didn’t permit at that time. Maybe leave it to next year :)


A whole new world – doesn’t feel like Singapore

Back to office on Monday, since my boss wasn’t around, I went for a ‘short’ lunch at ORQ with my previous department. I was a bit late, but they still save the lo hei for me. haha.. Thanks Lillie! After some chatting and ang pao, I went back to office and try to work… but CNY mood was ON and hence not much achievement for the day :p

Tuesday onwards, things start to get normal, I started to get into my bad mood, which last till weekend =.=’’ I’m so horrible… anyway, it’s good that things still go smooth. Despite the delay, I got my visa on Friday, and I will be flying off this Sunday night… :) The second trip to Europe. Nothing changes; I still pack only on the last minutes. And I hope I won’t repeat the same KFC incident there…

I finally got the chance to visit Lily Sis on Saturday. Good that she recovered from the flu she had last week :) Both her kids, Alip and Kiki, are as warming as normal. When their mother asked if they recognized me, they said “Yeah, the auntie who comes once every year!” haha.. I don’t know what to respond (should try to visit Lily Sis more often!) She treated me delicious noodle for lunch, and then we went to Bugis for some shopping before I went back to home.

After some basic packing, I watched Tooth Fairy… another masterpiece from Disney. It’s funny, it’s full of dreams, and it leaves some lessons to both the young and the old ones. I love the way they present fairyland… and yes, I got the meaning when they say people shouldn’t be afraid to have a dream and start a sentence with ‘What if’. Just that… somehow, I don’t know what is my dream… I don’t know where my passion for now is. Hmm.. Lots of reflection ahead, Lin.

Ok… it’s 1am now… and I am totally sleepy. If you realize that my entry is full of funny grammar… oh well.. it’s just the way I’m :D haha..

One week after Chinese New Year

After my last post, I have no chance to touch computer at all. I was busy baby sitting… busy eating… and busy collecting red packets! Hehehe…

Ok, so now I’m back to SG… I am proud to declare that I have…. Completed all the missions that I set! Yippie :) I ate all I want, I slept all I need, I met my friends, my relative, and most importantly… I got a group picture of my family!

You won’t appreciate how precious it is until you hear the story of how to get this pic (not gonna write it here as it's too heavy for public consumption) The pic was taken only one way before I flew back, and I was nagging for family pic since the first day I touched down Medan. It’s not easy to take a pic of 12 people, especially when three of them are toddlers living in 3 different time zone. Moral of the story? Be open and put a huge smile whenever people want to take a group picture with you… The same moment doesn’t come twice, okay!

After all the fun and the food and money counting, I went to airport, satisfied.

This time around, my luggage is less than 15kg… big thing for someone who always has overweight luggage :p We touched down at Singapore at 11pm… be almost the first to get our luggage, but unmistakably the last to make it home, thanks to the super long queue at the taxi stand. (I should have taken a pic of it!) We waited for almost an hour for a taxi! When we jumped to the taxi, the clock hit 12am and we got the full midnight surcharge. Yay. There goes my cny collection money.

The first day at office was… OK :) a lot of backlogs, but CNY mood made it less stressing, at least for me. The second day was no different.. I worked till around 11. Even though I left earlier on Friday, I still can’t stop myself to login to office on Saturday. Oh God, please stop me from being such a workaholic. I’m already bad enough to be a foodaholic.

Anyway, tomorrow is Sentosa for me. Pin is visiting and I’m ready to get a peek of the Casino and Resort World that everyone is talking about. Sentosa, wait for me! (Please please be sunny tomorrow)

A Hi from Hometown :)

It feels really good to be home :) Despite me meeting my family quite often, it has been a year since the last time I went back to my hometown. A lot of the decorations at home have changed... the only place remains the same since 10 years ago is my room sweet room. The table seems to be smaller now, and the chair seems too be too small for my size, but I can still remember the days I used to do assignment, study for exam, and read comics most of the time at this spot. Gosh I feel nostalgic.

Now, it's not me sitting infront of the table. There is my 6 year old niece sitting and playing restaurant city. Amazing how time flies... How can I not feel old?

We have the complete 12 core members of the family in the house right now. The most crowded time for the last 10 years. I'm super excited with the gathering, but it's not all fun and laugh. 3 toddlers are enough to keep me occupied and stressed (in a good way) for the whole day. Now that everyone gathers, I realized how short is the holiday i'm taking. Tomorrow is the reunion dinner, next two days is the first day of new year, and soon after that... I'm flying back off... hump :(

Alright, will try to use the precious time I have as wise as possible. I woke up today at 8.30 and all my family is in shocked wondering why I woke up before 12. Thanks for the understanding, Mum, Dad. Anyway, as usual, the day before flying back off is always the nerve cracking day. Despite taking the whole day off on the day itself, I still hardly get any sleep on that night... But thanks that at least it has a good ending :) I spent my first day in Medan sleeping as usual. Sister, who is already used to my habit, has made the bed before picking me up from airport. haha.. Thanks Sis...

Ok, I'm not sure of what I'm typing... currently hogging my sister's asus laptop, which has windows 7 installed, all in chinese. Now I have impression that Windows 7 is really not user friendly. I can't understand a single thing! Sigh.

The intention of this post is to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Valentine's Day in advance! Please eat more so that I wont be fat alone once I'm back! (the amount of food here is enough for whole year, really)

One week to the New Year!

I completed the Q&A novel this week. If the movie is called great, the story in the novel is called… splendid! I like the novel a lot... it’s narrated in a lightweight chunks of stories, each explaining how the guy, Ram, is able to answer the question which led him to be the winner of the globally famous show.

Now that I read the story, I can’t remember what the movie was all about ^^; anyway, it took me almost a month to finish the novel… now time to move on to another one: Dan Brown The Lost Symbol. I kept hearing people warning me not to expect too much from the novel.. oh well.. lets see… now that I have an iphone… it took me longer to finish a book.. wait for the review next year k! :p

Another week has gone by, another month has come by… now is the second month of 2010… and I’m still as clueless as ever of what I want to achieve this year… :( The urge to start planning for future starts to hit me more often than ever… but I normally hush it away after few minutes of deep thought. How to think of the future when I am still struggling in finding time to rest properly?

Recently, few of my friends contacted me. The topic is surprisingly similar: Job opportunities. They are eager, willing, to spend additional effort in finding something better for themselves. All in sudden, I feel like I have drowned too much in my own world and forgot that life more than my room and my cubicle. I literally feel like a small rabbit in the jungle full of tigers. Meow :(

Enough of self destruction mode… :) I might not be planning my future so well, but at least I’m happy with my present. I had a great Friday night (including getting more bruises on my knees), good Saturday night (including a movie Bodyguards and Assassins which I can hardly digest), and great Sunday (including lunch @ Yum Cha for the first time and I’m definitely go back for more)

Tuesday, I will be flying back to medan.. my relative has just reached today... and my brother will be reaching tomorrow night. Yay!! I can't wait for the reunion... my packing is 80% done :D I guess my luggage will be overweight again, but at least I have few more friends to back me up :D hahaha…

Ok, now one last thing before going to sleep: transferring my notes from Nokia E66 to iPhone! I just connect my iPhone to my notebook for the first time today... and despite me being extra careful with what I'm doing, I am still fooled and successfully removed all my applications with a single click.

Counting down!

10 more days. To my hometown, to the end of my current project, and yes, to the announcement of performance evaluation of the year.

I can’t help but to feel anxious whenever this topic comes to my mind. Thanks that there are enough of other things to worry about, such that I don’t have to ponder over it really often.

This week was full of unexpected turns. There are a lot of pushing and pulling of works (Can’t be more specific than this, sigh). If there is anything I learnt about myself this week, it’s that I like to think too much over simple stuffs and complicate it thousand times.

To my own defense, I think twice just to make sure that I’m not offending anyone with what I’m doing… but apparently, my thought goes way too deep recursively, and I ending up stressing myself out. I’m yet to find the balance to this… but easier said than done… life is not as simple as algorithm with Big O and its friends… it’s much harder to find a bound and guidance in life…

In conclusion? I am learning to be more spontaneous… hehe..

So, weekdays were tiring as usual. I hardly sleep for 5 hours on any of the days. No wonder my friends were wondering if they already see a Panda in Singapore even though it’s still on its way to Singapore’s Zoo. Haha… I was staying until around 11 in office on Friday… :( Hope that it wont be a habit.

Saturday was the day where I always lazily waking up at 12. this week made no difference. I woke up late, showered, lunched, watched a part of Sherlock Holmes, then went to QT’s Wedding dinner @ Paya Lebar.

The dinner starts pretty late, almost 9pm (starving but the food made the wait worthwhile). We hence end up at around 11pm, and I managed to catch the last bus and successfully be the last person to reach home from the party (!) I am surely going to move somewhere more central this time.

Sunday was pretty much relax.. I slept till 10 despite promising my friends to meet at 11. Thanks God they were overslept as well and we finally met at 2pm. Haha… I had good fun… I can’t believe that I have hometown mates who have stayed in Singapore for more than 10 years and I met them! Thanks Pin to introduce me to them :) Nice knowing you, Dini and Mery :)

I almost fainted when Mery told me that she is a university student, Accountancy second year, and the same age with me. OK. Either I look way too old, or she is just too good. The first question I asked her was which secondary is she in… now I feel so stupid =.=’

We went around Vivo and Chinatown… before I finally went home as they continue their journey to Singapore Flyer. I reached back home at around 7.30, had dinner and chatted, then continue with the second part of Sherlock Holmes.

The movie ended at almost 10pm. My comment? I had a high expectation on the movie… and yeah… it meets my expectation to the very extend! Hehe.. I love the movie to the max. The Watson is good, really. Sherlock is incomparable. I’m glad to know that they are coming out with sequel. Are you ready, Professor Moriarty?

Apart from Sherlock Holmes, I completed How I meet your mother, Season 1. Have to agree that it’s a good series :) now watching the season 2… and I better go to sleep before I am hypnotized until 3am again.
