Hi, Medan

I’m leaving in 4 hours time. As always, I didn’t get the chance to have a proper excitement T_T I reached back home from office at 12, get some shower, and – unconsciously – washing my hair. Ended up I came out from bathroom at 12.30 with wet hair.

No choice but to let it dry before sleep T_T I tried to do some stuff, but I’m just so tired… A lot has happened this week. Really a lot… I was over estimating myself and finally forced to forgo numbers of things to do… not really critical, but they were now or never. Sigh. Felt like my emotion has been played around with all the good and bad news around me. More importantly, I have affected the emotions of people as well. My apologies…

Still the same wish as previous post, I wish everyone well this year. Is this year has been extremely full of surprising news, or I’m just not well enough adapting to my age?

I think I need some time to rejuvenate…

Happy Chinese New Year!

… in advance :p

One week to go till the new year… At this hour 4 days from now, I will be at Medan already =D I might not be able to update my post until next month… so please allow me to be a bit kiasu in wishing everyone a great new year ahead =) May it be a time for all of us to spend time with loved ones =D

This week has passed quite fast. The team has extremely a lot of things to do. I tried to help as much as I can (not much, maybe T_T) and haven’t really has time to discuss about any automation with macro. They are really having so many outstanding requests… sigh. Might these will pass soon…

Lucky for me, I had some delicious birthday cake when the week started, which helped me to survive until Friday. Thanks to Ivana to have her birthday on Monday! Hahaha… Happy Birthday to you again, and might all your wishes come true!

Happy Birthday Flatmate! You are just getting younger and younger every year.

On Friday, I had my very first movie screening with other GTO grads in Singapore. haha… We had our dinner @ Clementi, then continued with a (very) short project discussion, and carried on with a Slumdog Millionaire movie. It was the first bollywood movie that I watch (another first thing), and I gave it 4 stars out of 5 =D thanks Anand for being such a great background-story teller for all of us. And of course, thanks Kelvin for sending us home after the movie =D

On Saturday, I was having hard time to wake up on time. Yup, I have promised my friends to go to Chinatown for some sightseeing before going back to hometown. I set off at 12.30, went to orchard for a while, stopped at bugis for a moment, and then finally stayed at Chinatown for the next 4 hours. It was super crowded!! I reminded me of why I was there on my first year in NTU and never come back for the next four years. Haha.. but I didn’t regret being there though. The Ox is definitely kawaaaiii this year.

Cute Ox~ @ Chinatown

Alrighty. CNY mood everywhere~~ Going to pack now. I’m leaving on Thursday early in the morning… Not sure how to wake myself up T_T

(Just some heads up for myself, I’m predicted to have some gloomy post entries in next few weeks, of how the next long holiday seems so far away from anywhere. Hahaha…)

Vera, all the best in Chicago =] Bon Voyageee!

I’m back =D

… with a better mood, after a long sleep until almost 1pm on Saturday. Sleep is really important, second only to eat (for me). So, never take easy the “rest well” wishes that you receive every night. It’s crucial for a better tomorrow.

For office stuff, I’m into vba this week. Not much coding yet, still trying to understand code and add some patch. Although I was horribly sleepy during the afternoon, I stayed until quite late everyday… once until being the last person to leave the office. That’s when I can take out my camera and took some pictures of my cubicle.

Finally have the chance to take picture of my cubicle.

Honestly, I like my cubicle a lot. It’s spacious, cozy with proper lighting, close to pantry and exit. The only bad thing is that my monitor is facing my boss and myself is facing the big boss… make me hardly have the chance to slack T_T

Anyway, during my long ride to office everyday, I passed through Chinatown and happened to be awake (because of friend’s call) and see the Chinese New Year decoration. Big Ox everywhere! They are formed quite cute. I really can tell that the CNY is around the corner. All the advertisement and discount have already been put up for CNY as well. I just know that bak kwa price will raise during CNY! Like $20 more expensive! I want to buy it home… but wonder if I can pass the airport check at Medan T_T

After bearing with my half-awake concentration for five days, I rejuvenated on Saturday and preparing a bit for my PR application. The earliest date for appointment is 25th March! Have no choice but to agree on that and took leave for that day. Heard of how long the queue is, I’m really scared of missing any documents.. what if after the long 2 months of waiting, I forget one document and they asked me to come again after appointment, which I believe another 2 months? What if after processing my documents for 3 months, they decided to reject me unless I provide other document? Geez, I’m so pessimistic… Just show how desperately I want it T_T

Let’s forget about the fear for a while and think about other exciting thing.

I watched Cape No 7 and The Traitor this week. The Traitor is great, but the Cape No 7 was a sleeping pill for me T_T it supposed to be romantic.. But… whatever T_T maybe I’m not romantic enough to understand it. On the other hand, the Traitor is a story about terrorism… pretty interesting, but the plot really reminded me of Infernal Affairs… about good guy spying on terrorist, and how the only person who can clear the good guy name was killed. But I definitely still prefer Infernal Affairs =D The charisma of the characters was really there.

This week is the premier of Red Cliff II. I haven’t watched Red Cliff I when my friends asked me to join them. Thanks to the best pirate, I manage to watch the dvd version of Red Cliff I, and got convinced to join the Red Cliff II screening. Red Cliff’s story is half taken from the famous Three Kingdoms stories. I can hardly remember their names and faces (since they all look a like to me), but those who played the tactics game must have know the story and plot really well. The Red Cliff II is not disappointing at all. The best movie I watched in cinema after death note (yeah, I didn’t watch a lot) Takeshi acted really well too, and cleared his bad impression to me when he acted in Warlords XP

Alrighty…time to end the week… After all the fun stuff (and KFC!), ironing is definitely the part I hate the most T_T time to sleep and get ready for the week… =D

Counting down to CNY,

The "FYP"

Wednesday… a weird day to write a blog, especially if you still have a long list of things to do and haven’t had enough sleep. Wait. Or maybe it is because I didn’t have enough sleep, that I become somehow emotional?

The first week of New Year hasn’t been good. Although I am glad (and being gossipy) of seeing lots of my friends status changed to “relationship”, I heard more sad stories from my closer friends. How can all of them happen all together in one week?

And I really lost my ability to calm them down. What am I supposed to say when someone told you that they were broken hearted, that they are not good enough for the other? The most I can say is that you need to learn to appreciate yourself first before you demand other to love you. If you appreciate yourself enough, you will see that it is their lost not to accept you, and you can get over them.

Somehow, even that kind of (what I think as) general comments can go wrong, because not everyone has the same beliefs. As far as I know, the point of view can be largely divided into two extremes:
1. Offer your love. If they don’t want it, then too bad. Move on and find another.
2. Offer your love. If they don’t want it, means that you haven’t tried hard enough. Carry on until their heart melt, because you are sure that he/she is the one.

The first extreme will be called playboy/girl and the second extreme might be known as desperado. There is no right or wrong, but I think the latter can make situation really bad for both parties. From my comment, I know that I used to opt for the first. But if that’s the case, how you, as the offered party; ever sure that he/she is not just testing the water?

That’s when I concluded that this thing is too complicated and I am no expert in it. My apologies to my friends who had expected good encouragements but receiving silence instead from me. Trust me that I really don't want to make my friends feel worse with my comment.

I feel better after pouring out these things from my thoughts. Hope that I can have a better sleep today.

I sent my deepest condolences to my friend who just lost her father. Oh, year 2009. God, please make it good somehow.

End of the First Week,
ED

Update: Just get this quote from my sister. The timing is just right.

All the best, everyone :)

Guruguru Mawaru~

… is directly translated to “Rotating” (credit to School Rumble OST). And yes, I have moved to my third rotation =) KP gave me a whole day briefing on Friday, and I was overloaded and overexcited at the same time. The Friday supposed to be half day, but I went out at almost 7.30 T_T But still, it’s weekend!! =D After a nice dinner at Sakae Sushi, I went home and relax…

My Saturday went with typical household work and a movie screening at night. The movie, Cape No 7, made me hardly keep my eyes opened. I don’t understand how it can get such a high rating… or maybe it’s just me not romantic enough to appreciate the movie. Anyway~ Have no regret in watching it, at least my curiosity is fulfilled and I had two other victims to watch it with me :p

I spent my Sunday at my boss’ housewarming party. Although it took me more than one hour (lengthen by the time wandering on the street) to reach the place, the place is worth the time. It is fabulous!! The look and feel are exactly like those presidential suites at five star hotel. Two thumbs up for the architect and the effort put by the family =D The food is well prepared also =)

Back from the party, it took me the rest of the time to complete this blog… and now is the time for some episodes of Big Bang Theory before embracing the coming Monday… hahaha…

Btw, one of my dear friends sent this ecard to me:

May your New Year brings…
… Time for reflection and renewal
… Time for little celebrations
… Time for wonder
… Time for discovery
… And time for dreams!

Yes, I believe, there is always a time for everything :)

Reflection of Year 2008

A little bit too late… and I have seen a lot of blogs writing this as well… guess that this is just quite a compulsory thing to do? Like a summary in every report written? =D

I can’t really remember what I have gone through until I read back my blog and screen through the photos…

I started off the year 2008 with a bunch of friends at TV Lounge Block 66, with a recorded video of our New Year resolutions.

@ Beloved Hall 14 Block 66 Lounge

I ended this year realizing the fact that I haven’t reached my resolution T_T (halfway there: I still can’t swim, but can float now) I truly understand what is written in this article as this is exactly what I felt. Demoralized because of failing the resolution. Hahaha… So… shall I banish the resolution for this year onwards?

This year carves the major change in my life. My 17 years status as “Student” is finally taken off. Now I have to think of what to write in the Occupation field of any form, and take my time explaining what it is (whenever what I write didn’t make any sense XP)

This year, I get a niece. I am really looking forward to seeing you, Aurelie. Now all my siblings are “married with child”! I can’t express how happy I am, and I believe my parents are at least ten times happier than me.

This year, I fulfilled my desire to visit my sister at Kunshan, went back to hometown, completed my training at London, and lost my passport along the way. Hahaha T_T I am still the careless Erlin after all. But the lost this time have brought quite a big impact to me. I’m definitely way more alerted now.
Alright. The memories are abundant, the moments are precious, and this summary can go on and on, but let just stop it here and let the picture do the talking :)

Year 2008 - Journey of Life

This year, my PC has rest in peace, my Nokia 6280 has retired, and I’m still with my Sony DSC W 70 =D

The 2008 Entry

This is what happened when I leave my blog for too long – I can’t remember what to write T_T Let me start with my typical diary entry :)

24th December: writing the last blog of the year, set off to Changi Airport. Thanks Son to send me until the airport (and thanks Tom to send me until the bus stop :p). I met quite a lot of friends at airport… Glad to know that I wasn’t alone to spend Christmas eve on a flight XP I was in the same flight with Juli and Riki and his gf. The flight touched down smoothly at Medan, and I celebrated my Christmas eve with a full pack of fried rice and satay padang :D

25th December: I went to order a new spectacle at Thamrin, but can’t memorize what happened afterwards. Remember that I ate beef ball and some delicious noodle before went to pick my aunt from airport. Oh! I managed to pass my friends order to their respective families as well =D

The delicious beef ball

26th December: Fly to Penang with my aunt for medication. Reached there at around 10am. There were some hassle here and there regarding transport and accommodation, but we managed to complete the visit to both Island and Lam Hua Ee hospital on that day. I was quite astonished with how easy a trust is established there (and how sweet is all the salesman talk)

Christmas decoration @ Island Hospital

27th December: Spent the whole day shopping and travelling around Penang. I was there once, but it was 5 years ago and I can remember almost nothing. Thanks aunt for the short tour :)

@ Penang Temple

28th December: Fly back to Medan, get furious with how my suitcase was cut and damaged intentionally by the airport staff. My face was so black that my brother-in-law decided to get the suitcase mended right away. Thanks bro. Afterwards, I ate the nasi padang with happy mood, followed with a full day wandering at Pasar Ramai, and a wedding dinner at night (yeah, free dinner, I always go home at the right time)

29th December: I went to get my hair trimmed, and was quite shocked with the outcome T_T Have no choice but to wait until my hair is long again to get ride of the current lion style. Mum was coming to Medan and cooked a sumptuous meal. What a life…

30th December: The day is finally here. My dearest cousin is getting married. I joined the tea reception, and was honored to be the guest reception for the dining. When I was at the New York Art bridal, I was so so so surprised to meet… Kerfarng! And spontaneously, my eyes are trying to find his partner… right beside him… yeah, it’s Agustina!! Haaaaa… She was so pretty! I know that they are getting married on that day… but to meet them at the same bridal!? How big is the chance? I was literally screaming and jumping ^^; and of course, my dearest camera was with me :D

Agustina and Kerfarng

31st December: Slept until 11 and spent most of my time packing stuff. I went to Sun Plaza to get some more stuff before deciding to go back and welcoming new year at home with J Co donuts. I tried to sleep, but still awake until 12 because of festive sounds of trumpets and fireworks. I said my very first happy new year to daddy, before falling into deep sleep.

1st January: Go to Polonia airport and praying hard that there will be no problem with the fiscal exemption thingy. And thanks God everything is really alright. In fact, it gets even better. It is no longer necessary to fill a form and submit any documents =D I passed… Yay! But later on, I heard that the real rule will only applies on 15th January onwards… means I can’t stop praying yet as I’m going back again on 22nd Jan =.=’

The new Fiscal Rules

So… I touched down at Singapore again safely on New Year. Thanks to Tomy and Fendi to pick me up and even brought me to the hidden canteen at Airport =D I reached back home, unpacked, feel quite unmotivated because of the ending holiday. But still, it’s the hardship that makes us appreciate the blessing. It’s the work that makes us appreciate the holiday.

Looking forward for upcoming holiday XP
