Welcome 2 22

I’m now 22. Thanks everyone for the attempt in reminding me that I’m getting older. You have terrifically succeeded. Nowadays, whenever I boarded MRT or bus and see a group of people laughing and chatting, I would unintentionally making my own guess “Hm. Must be around 16 or 18. Kids.” OMG. How old is my spirit now T_T

This year birthday has been quite unique for me :) This is the first time that my birthday celebration did not happen in NTU. Haha.. Let me try to count how many calories had been caused by this event…

I had a birthday reminder dinner at Tony Roma’s, with Grill Ribs and 10 days before my birthday eve.
I had a birthday eve lunch treat at Secret Recipe, with Irish lab Stew + 3 brownies.
I had a birthday eve dinner at Soup Spoon, with a grande bowl of spicy chicken soup on the top of million other stuff.

I had a chocolate cake from flat mates, 15 minutes after the clock hits midnight. Truly appreciate their effort in staying up so late for me.

Suddenly 4 candles seems a lot.

Side note1: On my birthday itself, I went to ICA for my PR application, and get a birthday wish from the lady at the counter =D

Side note2: The application for PR can actually be submitted online! Argh! Bye bye my day leave.

Sigh. They should have advertised it more (helping them to advertise now).

For my birthday lunch, I decided to go for something I never tried before. I got MOS Burger. Hey, it was delicious! I got teriyaki chicken burger, and it’s really juicy =D but if you found me didn’t go for it frequently, you know that it might be due to its size :p

and for my birthday dinner, I had a bowl of Sour and Spicy noodle, xiao long bao, and other things.

For post birthday lunch, I had spicy spaghetti at Pasta Mania, followed with my beloved cheese cake.

23. My great friends decided to celebrate my birthday one year in advance.

Last but not least, for the weekend of my birthday, I had a great oh-so-filling dinner at P.S Café.

And FYI, I finally started my jogging =D It was.. er… a 15 minutes jogging session, followed by 30 minutes breakfast. Hahaha.. but still, it is a good start. Thanks flatmate for dragging me out! And yes, next week will be better :)

Marching to the end of March

March is a month in a year that I always reluctantly hope to never pass. This is a month where I'm formally declared that I'm getting older.

I wish that this month will never pass too this year, but for a different reason all together (In fact, I only remembered my birthday when my friends celebrated it 10 days in advance =.=’) My rotation in the team is ending this march, and I still have tons of things to do! It is just kept piling up no matter how fast I tried to solve it. How can I move to the next rotation if I didn’t finish the work? There is nobody else who I can hand in too… so I can view this as “get it done or nothing at all”. With my evaluation at stake, I have but to choose the first one.

I started the rush on Friday, going back at 1am, with everyone saying how pity I’m. I must get used to those comments until the next 10 days. Time is counting down… but still, I objected the idea to work on weekend. I don’t mind working until midnight everyday, but I still can’t sacrify weekend. Weekend is for long sleep! For movies! For sweeping mopping laundering ironing. Hahaha.

Anyway, Jack is here this week. Glad I still have a chance to meet him on Thursday. It has been 5months since our training…. Feel like only yesterday. He looked very funny when Kelvin and I found him lost in Suntec. Haha.. I know I shouldn’t say this… he has been such a great tour guide for us when we’re at London. Thanks to Kelvin, I found the most delicious chicken rice in Singapore @ Bugis. The food is great. And affordable.

Most delicious chicken rice ever =D

Saturday, I woke up at 10.30, showered, and went to vivocity for the SCE movie screening day. The event was quite organized, the food was quite good, the service was very good, the companions were great, and the sofa was super good, just lack of a tiny bit of good movie. We watched watchmen. Obviously not the best movie that I have ever watched. After the movie, we went for dinner @ KFC. Can you imagine how many people were there, that we hit 3 digits bill for KFC?

@ Gold Class =D =D (... as the waitress)

KFC @ Habourfront - SGD111.25

We reached back home at around 8.30… then showered and relax for a while. I felt very sleepy. After a discussion on 12.30, I slept… determined to wake up at 7 on the next day for a so-outdated-jogging plan…. And failed again =__=

I woke up only at 10… do my weekly chores, and relax… my mood has been down lately, guess that it’s due to the pressure from different areas of my life. Haha. Enough complain. Time for a good nap before dinner :p

Sport Motivation Wanted

I’m in a very great need to do sport! Can barely remember the last time I do one. But can anyone tell me the best way to start? I can only do sport that doesn’t require learning, such as jogging or treadmill. However, there is no gym around my place… I can’t do the more fun sports such as badminton, swimming or tennis... Which are ironically available as my apartment facilities. Gosh, this makes my guilt doubled.

I need a companion. Someone who can drag me out from bed for morning jogging, or push me to swimming pool regardless of my thousand excuses. Anybody feels capable of doing so, feel free to apply at your own risk.

The reason for this sudden urge is… well, must be very easy to guess. Lots of oily food consumption that make me hardly fits to any of my jeans. So it is either I throw all my jeans, or I need to find a way to reduce the fat. Eating is definitely not something to forgo weee :p

Eat like today is your last day.

Since I recovered back from my cough, I have been eating inconsiderately. 2 KFC in a week. Japanese set meal and huge western meal in a day, and many other sins that I don’t want to remember. Brr… And did sleeping 12 hours during weekends count to the fat? T_T

Anyway, enough with the self-deprecating mood. Anything else has been quite routine this week. Today is extremely hot, with sudden rain at around 3, which stop at around 6. I was so wanting to throw myself to swimming pool and do some sport, but laziness win. Heh.

It is 7pm now and I’m wondering what to have for dinner... nyam.

Happy Friday the Thirteen and Saturday the White Day for those who celebrates it,
ED

In the end of this first week...

Feel that this week has been exceptionally long.

After the gloomy Monday, the second case came on Thursday, followed by another case on Friday night. All of them happened to age 20-ish people within Singapore universities. If this happened 4 years ago, I believe that I won’t have the chance to study here at all.

Despite everyone’s hope for this not to happen again, it just continues, huh? One of my friend reminded that now is near to the Qingming (a.k.a Tomb Sweeping Day), which may be related to the increase number of deceased. I prayed that it is not true.

Anyway, I finished reading Deception Point (finally after like almost half year). I gave it 3 out of 5. It gets quite interesting near the end, but the chapters before that… just really make me want to skip the pages, especially when it went too detailed about technical preparation.

That was the third novel of Dan Brown that I read. Going to start the last (and the so claimed the best) of four: Angel and Demon. Thanks Sabrina for lending it to me =D Hope that I can finish it before the movie comes out.

In the middle of the transition, I read Sherlock’s A Study in Scarlet. I think that was the last story I haven’t read from Sherlock series. It was a good story, and if anyone realized, it didn’t reveal the whole mysteries at the end of novel, but I believed it was brought out at the other cases.

Gosh, I think I read too many detective styles stories. It is quite hard for me not to relate the recent incidents with at least some weird theories. Need to get those out of my head T_T

Talking about myself, thanks that I am recovering from my cough. I developed coughing two weeks ago, since I ate KFC (but no regret! Heh). After that, I think I started to spread the virus in office and now 50% of them are coughing T_T really hope that it wasn’t me. Anyway, I suffered quite a lot because of this cough. I had to stop consuming oily and heaty stuff. It means a no for my daily coffee and curry puff. It was tough! Coffee usually marks the start of my day, and now I needed to switch to some tasteless green tea to accompany my sausage bun. I can still concentrate at office, but I am easily bored and feel lack of energy as the clock hits 7pm. And oh, I think I eat more fish soup than I ever had last year. My throat gets so itchy that I wasn’t dare to eat anything fried T_T

So, with this, as this week ends, I declare myself to have recovered, and will get back my daily dosage of caffeine before I get scolded for not meeting the deadline.

This week, Michael Buble’s Everything kept playing in my head. Not so much about the lyric, but I like the cheerful and confidence voices within the song (especially when he sang “And in this craaaazy lifee” XD) I would love to live my life that way, knowing what I want and embracing the life with full spirit ^^

Congratz Kui Yu for being the best lecturer for year 4~!

NTU Tragedy

After reading all the facts, I didn’t know what else to say. Reading about his background, he supposed to have a bright future. IMO student. President of EEE sport club. Grades above average. Above all the other things. It’s such a big loss, especially for his family. We all experienced that FYP is disastrous. We all know that getting a demanding supervisor can make it worse. But we must also realize that we’re not alone in this FYP world, and this is going to end, sooner or later.

Suddenly feel ashamed of myself for never giving my juniors any advices about FYP.

I hope that this incident will never happen again… and my deepest condolences to David and his family.

God Bless,
ED
