Li-Ning Singapore Open! :D

Let me continue from where I stopped…

So we had our gathering at Garuda last… ermm.. half a month ago? Haha… After graduation, everyone goes their own path… I literally lost contact with most of them. Thanks to the gathering, at least we get a chance to catch up. I never knew that Fajar is now working at Yahoo! Indonesia… and I didn’t know that Nelman is working at SMU. Lukas is closely monitoring my Parkway Medical entry, and not sure where is Vily now? It was a good time to catch up… yet.. despite trying to organize it as early as 3 months ago, half of them still can’t make it T_T hope that next year will be better. Hahaha…

Just outside Garuda - Orchard Central :)

Anyway, it was my first time eating at Garuda @ Orchard Central (I lost count of my buffet quota. My resolution of one buffet per quarter is not really achievable T_T) The food looked good… but the whole dining experience wasn’t really satisfying. I believe it’s the service. We had to ask 3x before the rice is served to us. I don’t know how many times I asked for water before they finally poured me one. The food was kinda cold and they don’t really have lots of variety. It just made me miss the real Garuda in Medan even more :( Ok, even if the food is not too great, at least it provide a good place for us to chit chat :p We stayed there from 6.15pm in the evening until the restaurant is closed at almost 10pm. Hahaha!

If I have to summarize my working life from the past two weeks in one word, I will pick the word “Hectic”. I don’t really want to elaborate more. I hope that my colleague has enjoyed his MTA and will come back fresh. I doubt that next week will be any much better – my boss is taking leave and has appointed me as his delegate. Heh. Ok… on the positive note, despite having to stay until 12am almost every working day, I managed to keep weekend for myself :)

Last weekend was unique! We spent two days sitting in Singapore Indoor Stadium watching the Li-Ning Singapore Open. It was my first time watching a live sport, and I was truly enjoying it. The fans’ spirit was amazing :D I never thought that there can be so much drama in sport – the way the player go all out to catch the shuttlecock, the way they insult the line judge, the way they throw the towels & rackets for audiences, the way – you know who – say sorry for not playing in final… hahaha… It was really an experience for me. Thanks that Indonesia got one gold medal… it makes my sore throat worthwhile.

The winning moment at first Final match – Indo vs China – 27 – 25!! on a rubber set!

The happy fans :p

Last Friday’s was the last day for one of DB’s intern – Kanika. Being a responsible buddy (hahaha… actually, far from that…), we had a farewell lunch at Marche. There are 11 of us, I’m really thankful that Marche is not that crowded. I picked their Chicken Vegetable Pasta with Cream Sauce. Oh God, it was nyummy and sinful at the same time. After lunch, we had some photos session before going back to office… Kanika, I wish you all the best for your final year study in NTU! Hope to see you back next year :)

Outside of Marche with Interns – How time flies! I’m easily one of the oldest there.

This weekend, I get back to my normal routine. Woke up early on Saturday for a 10km jogging, did my house cleaning roster, went for a lunch with Winson at Tiong Bahru, then went to Chinatown hunting some best holiday deals for my brothers. Gosh, those fancy itineraries really awaken my holiday mood. I want holiday!! 2 more months to go… hmm :) After Chinatown, I went for swimming at Buona Vista, then went back home, relax a bit, had our dinner, follow by Glee + Outsource before dozing off…

Sunday started with badminton at Lake Side (Yuan Ching Secondary School). The place was quite hidden and it took us almost 30 mins to find it… It was really hot and I was almost losing my temper… and then it’s subdued by the fact that we book only 1 court but got to play at 3 for free. Haha.. Coincidentally, all the people played are actually those who went to watch the Li-Ning Singapore Open. Talking about inspiration, eh? :D after badminton, we had a quick lunch at the canteen near MRT, then I went back home for a quick nap…

…I have to thank my dad to wake me up at 3pm… I might be sleeping until night otherwise. The weather is burning hot outside… so we decided to stay at home and relax for the rest of the weekend :)

Ok, that’s all for now… Two more weeks to Jurong Lake Run! I’m all ready, Roar!

Saturday Post!

Like how life is supposed to be a roller coaster…

I have to pay last week awesomeness with this week ‘s working-like-hell. T_T Everyday I reached back home & sleep at 1am++, woke up early, & felt sleepy, worked longer due to suboptimal brain, and the vicious cycle continues until end of the week. Thanks god I finally had a sound sleep until 11am for Saturday.

I’m expecting myself to be spending my Sunday in the office, so I decided to blog earlier :)

Mum, Dad, and sis went to Penang for check-up and treatment this week… things are OK and they are now back to hometown. Just finished an hour call with mum and dad, and I can feel their tiredness from the way they speak :( Hope that they will feel more energized after couple more weeks.

There are so many people going for holiday (this is one of the reasons for my madness week in office! !@#$ to my colleague who went off without proper handover to me!!) and it makes me kind of start looking on my own holiday plan.

I have applied for 2 weeks leave at the end of August during the Idul Fitri period… thinking that I can maybe go back home or having short holidays with friends. But alas, I just heard that my parents are going to Australia during this period, and my friends might not be available as those travel planners just got a new job and still in probation period T_T Not sure what I’m going to do with my two weeks of break. My parents suggested me to change my leave to Dec, but that clashes with my boss’ planned leave… and anyway I love office in December!! It’s heaven for slackers. Haha.. maybe I will just go for marathon training during my august break.

After august, I also applied for another two weeks leave for end of October. This one is really for vacation with family. My sister has helped to book Medan – SG tickets for my parents… :D Now the only thing left to do is to book for a tour. I have been waiting for more than couple of months now, but none of tour schedule is out for October yet :( Guess I have to wait until end of August for Natas Fair.

I’m still not used to staying alone. My discipline goes all the way down the hill. I have a messed up sleeping & waking up time :( Guess I’m not the type who can stay in a single room.

I finished the novel “Why Do We Have to Live with Men”.. erm.. it’s 2 out of 5 stars. The story was kind of plain and it doesn’t live up to its title ^^; The story started with the girl broke up with her bf, then try to move on in 6 weeks, finally she succeed and found a new bf. The end. Sigh. I’m now looking for a new novel, hope that the next one won’t be heavy (literally) as the previous one.

Last Friday, I had a farewell dinner for my team member in Rang Mahal @ Pan Pacific. He was my director when I was in asset management IT, and we met again when he joined core banking. When asked of what he intended to as he went back to NY, he said he had nothing figure out yet. He might decide to retire but that’s all still open. He just said that he needed a break for a while, as the life in Singapore is too stressful. Haha…

Well, I saluted him for being able to see and pull the break to this. The decision to move from one country to another is not easy: child education, time, future, etc, but he managed it through. I hope that one day, if needed to, I will be able to do the same with myself… to have a direction for my own life and not just go with the current only because it’s the easiest way out.

Ok, enough blabbering. The sky has been gloomy for the whole day but I don’t care! I’m going for SCE Gathering now! Garuda Padang Buffet. Woohoo!

Till next week,

Hello June!

Ok… I have an awesome week! There are lots to tell but I’m already sleepy, still I don’t believe in procrastination. So here comes my 10 minutes story.

The week has started fine and terminated gracefully :) My roomie has gone for 2 months travels and I missed her badly. The room suddenly looked so big and empty… she said that I will get used to it but I still wish that she would come back soon… Now that there is no one to share the bathroom with, I have no motivation to wake up in the morning!!

Anyway, Big boss was on travel and (hence) small boss took “MC”, so I started the week peacefully in office clearing off my backlog. Tuesday was a bit disappointing as I wanted to run so badly but rain turned me down :(. Wednesday I started to woke up late, but still managed to finish early and had dinner at Anchor Point. I was so tempted to have KFC that day, but decided to keep it for another day… Thurs, I had my yoga & run & late night call… Friday, I had my long lunch & a chill @ hosted in the evening, before going for my weekly call until 9pm T_T I only reached home at around 10.30pm, and then started the weekend :D :D We finished “Unknown” and watch an episode of Glee before calling it a day.

Next morning, we went for swimming at Buona Vista, continued with nice lunch at Thai Express City Link, before going for movie “Kung Fu Panda 2” at Suntec City. The movie was A.W.E.S.O.M.E! It was so funny and touching at the same time. I teared when Po story was revealed. Family story is always my weakness point T_T.. However, I was soon laughing again with the next scene when Po was screaming but none of the enemies heard his voice… hahaha… the movie was really 5 out of 5… even though it’s a short 90 mins movie, everything is packed just nice.

In the evening, I went for the training for Jurong Lake Run. I can’t believe that I managed to get Inche and Tomy to come along, too :D As it was our first time, so we decided to take the 5km run. Inche and Tomy were complaining that they might not be able to handle it since they haven’t been running for months. And guess what!! They beat me =___= It was a fun training with nice scenary… I really want to do that again… but I’m kind of booked for the next three Saturday evening :( Guess I just have to train on my own time. Thanks Che and Tom for the company! After the run at Chinese Garden, we walked all the way to Jurong Point and ate at Kopitiam. Jurong Point has changed so much. Can’t remember when was the last time I went there. The only thing I can still remember is only the location of KFC.

After the swimming and running, I dozed off before 11pm at night… getting ready for Badminton for the next morning.

I set my alarm at 8am, but alas… the rainy weather make me dozed until 9.15am. We were again reached the badminton court half an hour late. It has sort of becoming a trademark now. Hahaha. After a nice exercise, we went to Koufu for lunch, then I went back home… had some rest, and went to Great World City for another movie session “X Men – The First Class”. The seat was good, the movie was awesome, and the afterwards dinner was splendid! Five of us (Guntur, Ilfina, Ari, Winson, and I) went to Chomp Chomp for dinner. It was my first time there and I truly loved it. Feel like go and get something from every stall :D We had almost everything… started with Satay, accompanied by sugar cane drink, followed by BBQ stingray, then chicken wings, then hokkien noodle, and finished with Satay Beehoon. They have the best hokkien noodle in Singapore. No kidding. And the most awesome chicken wing at $1 each.

Awesome BBQ Chicken Wing - $1 each @ Chomp Chomp

Ok time for me to sleep before my stomach start growling again. Bye, weekends!

Duanwu Festival tomorrow!
